I was thinking about how Wizard of Oz is to America what Lord of the Rings is to Britain and it made me realize that Over the Garden Wall follows the Oz legacy, and that’s part of why it’s so good. Can anyone think of other fantasy stories that are Oz-esque?

a #Procreate pet peeve of mine. Why is there no short cut for copy/paste in the copy paste gesture menu?? Why does the selection menus have it, but NOT cut and paste? these menus should have both!!

Why would this be how it works? Why would i want the default to be expanding the menu? Also, if you grab from the other side, it STILL defaults to expanding the menu instead of the view area.
As you can see, this wasn't the case in v2, I can only assume they did this on purpose

Anyone have thoughts on the new Affinity 3? I'm not sure how I feel yet.

- The new toolbar icons look nice i guess but they're harder to parse for me. Some that were already vague, like the erasers, are worse

over all other than cosmetic changes + a few new things it's not that different from v2

realized today that i have made /hundreds/ of illustrations, and countless sketches, doodles, and drawings. A lot of them weren't very good but most people haven't made hundreds of anything. That's pretty neat of me.

Checked on my reviews on my Amazon, and there are a couple that are very clearly generated by ai. What's the point of that? Is there some kind of clout or money people can get by leaving reviews?

(i know they are ai cuz they mention foxes and squirrels... there's no real animals in my book lol)

my partner is a jeweler, and i'm really proud that he is craftsman. however it annoys me that family are alwasy 1) more interested in his work than mine and 2) always seem to think that I should use my skills to help him in a jewelry business rather than him helping in my already existing business..

very pleased to get a lovely starred review from Kirkus! It's nice to have my artistic efforts appreciated:

"Depicting a panoply of unique beasts, the art, rendered in gouache and colored pencil, is the star of the book."

aw shucks

This is a really important question. Publishing has broadly missed these kids. It's not a surprise they gravitate toward online zones for humor and entertainment as their book options dwindle. And we know where that can go.
Serious question: Where in the YA section do we send these millions of boys who loved reading (or at least grudgingly read) Diary of a Wimpy Kid in middle school?? They want humor, and their sense of humor is still largely juvenile, but they are now in high school.
