Running Wrap Up, 2024

Not as good as 2023; ran less miles, slower, with less elevation. But, as a result, I had few injuries (the plan).

Total Miles: 2,180
Miles Per Week: 42
Speed: 10:40 a mile

Always thankful I can still run, since at 58, any injury or worse could put an end to it for good.🙏

Vance will refuse to "clutch his pearls" because of _fill the blank thing something sends him that makes it all "both sides"_

We're still spreading our values. It's just that America simply has new values - like corruption.

What does Vance think about college kids protesting Israel?
cpanza.bsky.social
Trump is promoting US values. US values have simply changed. We are now pro-corruption.

I think it is safe to say it is illegal.
cpanza.bsky.social
Well that's true because the other way out of this is to bank on GOP voters or reps feeling shame. And we know they don't have any such feelings any more.

Um, I'm pretty sure that it would be 100% inappropriate to pay the military salaries using funds from a political donor.

But what do I know?

What I don't get here is: what if they are right - Soros paid for 100 busses and bussed people in to protest. What in the world what that have anything to do with the FBI? Doesn't Soros have the right to rent busses and send people to protest if he wants to?

How does Johnson utter those words and then not spontaneously burst into flames?

Mike Johnson: "They berated a Capitol police officer, screamed at him. He was merely standing his post. It shows, again, their disdain for law enforcement, the Democrats, screaming, assaulting officers."

It's really weird listening to a Treasury Secretary get into hard core partisan politics like this. Usually they at least try to stay in their lane. Not this guy, or at least not under Trump - where everything you do has to demonstrate slavish devotion to his views and aims.
cpanza.bsky.social
Yeah, I just got here.

Tom - I'm not staking out a position here one way or the other, but I am curious what you think a genocide is. Have you laid this out in any piece you've written?

There was a time that no administration would have - with zero evidence - called planned peaceful protests fronts for what they are calling domestic terror groups.

There was a time, anyway. That time passed.
cpanza.bsky.social
I'm not going to be talking shit about anyone else appearance looking like *that*

Give him 24 hours to rethink it and discover the error of his words. 🙄

So she's saying if you look "different" from the standard white man, there's reasonable suspicion and that this makes it protected by the 4th Amendment. Ooooooh kay.

McLaughlin: "Pritzker said there's racial profiling, which is absolutely false. Our officials use reasonable suspicion. That's protected under the US Constitution 4th Amendment."

Yet another media fail

CNN is now using the Trump preferred “Department of War” name in its official statements

This may well be one of the most embarrassing hearings of a AG I've ever seen.

My favorite part here is how Loomer (and others) act as if Trump doesn't really have any agency. If a few too many people lobby him, he'll do it! Trump, in their view, appears to have no real mind of his own.

Half way through this, it hit me that I was not actually reading well-crafted satire. I honestly thought that's what it was, because the arguments were so ridiculous I thought the author must be mocking the position. Turned out to be legit. Oh well (for the author).

Awesome to hear. I always enjoy Rampell's commentary on economics.

Bill when I read this I can't help but to think: didn't Trump have it good in this country? He did, and yet all he does is bitch and moan and complain about it. Shouldn't he show a little gratitude?
cpanza.bsky.social
That's what Trump is counting on.
