Sisyphus worked in a staff shop in a forward-deployed joint headquarters. Every frigging morning with the boulder. Today it’s 20,000 sandbags. Tomorrow, some rocket scientist cut through a 220 volt line with a pick. And 120-slide PP briefings that have to be done yesterday. #Iamsisyphus the horror…

I’m sure you know the old axiom about professionals talking logistics and amateurs talking tactics. Well, I’m reading this outstanding book about the gargantuan effort that sustained the #BritishArmy in the #GreatWar. #fwwhist #fww #WW1

4 November 1918 Lt Wilfred Owen was killed in action during the crossing of the Sambre–Oise Canal, exactly one week (almost to the hour) before the signing of the Armistice. #WW1 #History #HistoryMatters
The American people sold ourselves on the concept that β€œit can never happen here.” That was obviously a lie or a self-delusion.
If that guy had a LASER, his aim would’ve been much better. LASER = Lettuce and Salami Extended Ranging.

As you mentioned, you employ the SDC. But you failed to specify that it’s used to determine the MPI. MPI = Mouth Point of Impact.
Charles Waterhouse was a giant of the Corps. I had a dear friend (long gone from us) who was a BAR man in H 3/26 5th Mardiv on Iwo. I gifted him a signed print of β€œBAR on the Beach” for Christmas one year. He was so proud of that painting!
We only have to look to the example of the American Civil War. That conflict (1861-65) still exerts a powerful influence on US affairs in nearly countless respects. The aftershocks of World War I are still reverberating in the modern era.
It was a brilliant idea. I went to the Gettysburg battlefield recently and viewed the Cycloramana there. The artist recreated the penultimate moment of the third day. This painting is truly massive in scale. It really does feel as if you’re almost witnessing the actual battle.
