🧠 The Lipid #Brain Atlas is out now! If you think #lipids are boring and membranes are all the same, prepare to be surprised. Led by @lucafusarbassini.bsky.social with Giovanni D'Angelo's lab, we mapped membrane lipids in the mouse brain at high resolution.

Lauryn Hill just shared a moving tribute to the late D’Angelo:

People need reflection.

I regret not having more time with you. Your undeniable beauty and talent were not of this world, and a presence not of this world needs protection in a world that covets light and the anointing of God. You sir, moved us, stirred us, inspired and even intimidated others to action with your genius. Thank you for being a beacon of light to a generation and beyond who had no
remembrance of the legacy that preceded us. Thank you for charting the course and for making
space during a time when no similar space really existed.
You imaged a unity of strength and sensitivity in Black manhood to a generation that only saw itself as having to be one or the other. It is my earnest prayer that you are in peace, far away from selfishness, fear and/or controlling interests. Far from possessiveness, far from greed, far from manipulation, far from exploitation, far from intentionally designed chaos and that you Brother are in peace, in bliss and in eternal light and fulfillment with our Father in heaven. I Love you and I miss you. May God grant peace and shelter to your family, true friends and genuine appreciators, Brother, King. A photo of Lauryn Hill and D’Angelo, wearing black

I had wonderful time at UR and received such wonderful questions, feedback, and a level of hope and enthusiasm that I both personally needed and is needed in these times. Thank you so much to all of the NEUROYES organizers, faculty, staff, and trainees that made my visit possible and so welcoming!
We had an incredible time hosting our 3rd NEUROYES Scholar for 2024-2025, Dr. @coryjwhite.bsky.social, who shared fascinating findings from his research titled "Evaluating how HIV infection and antiretrovirals impact brain lipid metabolism." #thefutureisbright @urneuroscience.bsky.social

It's a sad day for me and the MOSAIC Scholars.
Finally got the notice. Very sad day for the MOSAIC program that supported some of the most amazing scientists I know, as well as some of the awesome people on my lab.
Letter from the NIH indicating that my grant has been terminated (though it seems we can keep the remaining funds for this year?)

Dr. Bianca Jones Marlin is an @HHMINEWS Freeman Hrabowski Scholar & Assistant Professor at Columbia University 🧠

The Marlin Lab researches transgenerational epigenetic inheritance (how parents' lived experiences change the brains of future offspring) 🧬🐭

This. It gives power to a term they use to avoid saying what they really mean. Make them say what they mean.
Stop saying “DEI hire”. Don’t repeat it when others use it. Don’t use it mockingly against those using it. Don’t use it to refer to practices that were implemented to attempt to counteract discrimination and even out the playing field. Don’t give credibility to a euphemism. Make people be specific.

For anyone hesitant on submitting grad apps, DO IT‼️

The worst possible outcome is “apply again next year”. But the best is that YOU GET ACCEPTED ✨

I applied to 4 grad programs and was rejected from all except one. But they still call me Dr. now 😏

ALL YOU NEED IS ONE 🙌🏾

I can't find African Scientists and researchers easily on here. As the second largest continent with 1.3 billion inhabitants our perspectives matter. I'm creating a starterpack to find folks, follow them and amplify them. If you are an African Scientist let me know below so I can add you. Thanks.
