What percentage Moose content does it need to officially become 'Moose Magazine (featuring Private Eye)'?

(And from there - all hail the Moose Event Horizon!)
(Dismal photos of derelict industrial sites are one of my happy places. Along with taking macro photos of bugs. So many bugs! Ahem.)
These are great - and gave me a sudden flashback to the work of two of my favourite photographers, Bernd and Hilla Becher, famous for their abstract typologies of industrial buildings...

Nice retrospective of their work excavated here:

I've an online pal, Wayne, who digs up BEAUTIFUL Victorian ink bottles from the rubbish dumps of yore.
Wayne:'Got some new gear, want to look?.'
Me:'Does the Pope poo in the woods?'
Some of the gear👇
There'll be more tiny posy-making mental health kits in my Etsy shop soon, dispatched in time for🌲

A man walks into a bar with a rhipidistian belonging to the subclass Dipnoi on his head and the barman says "Why the lungfish?"
(One day computers might figure out where Prof Roberts's head is when auto-cropping photos to landscape...)
Sci-fi flashback: David Bowman entering the monolith near the end of 2001: A Space Odyssey.

(Although Kubrick didn't think to include such a gleeful grin in the freeze-frames...)
I had that T-shirt as well! I think it wore out...

(I have numerous official Moose shirts as well.)
Excellent infrastructure - and reminded me of some apropos Moose...

I have a cartoon in the current Private Eye
Nice!

(I must confess that one of my own highlights was ... seeing the rather windswept latrines at Housesteads. Ahem.)
My grandparents lived in the area, and I was lucky enough to visit loads of Roman sites (and other historic places) as a child - seeing the whole of Hadrian's Wall in one continuous trip must have been incredible!
(Not a hypocaust, but it's given me flashbacks of, as a child, exploring the under-floor ventilation for the granaries at Corbridge Roman fort! I do like ancient, enclosed spaces...)

Three different instars of Nezara viridula nymphs spotted in a west London garden, early this week - and it seems the adults look quite different again!

Waiter-entomologist's probably gone to get the dSLR, macro lens and extension tubes!

(I was thinking of this joke last night...)

Visiting family. A fly landed in my beer... On closer inspection after being rescued, a tiny ichneumon wasp!

(Why do wasps, suddenly appear - every time, I am near, etc. I'd just been telling them the Good News about parasitoid wasps...)

Sneaking into #monochromemonday with another #infrared shot - overlooking the #grandcanyon, #arizona. July 2013.

(Strictly speaking, it's *not* quite monochrome - there's some complex interplay with longer / shorter wavelength near-infrared and the bayer mask on the sensor. Ahem.)
Heh - I stuck a click-through content note on the Pixelfed original, so as not to startle any arachnophobes - and the fediverse bridge upgraded it to the much more dubious-sounding 'Graphic Media'. Blimey.

(Username? Worst possible one I could think of, when all better ones seemed taken!)
I think mainly drying herself off after being (briefly) immersed in beer! Looked really bedraggled at first.

(Perked up a lot over the course of a few minutes - then got released into the garden...)

Do bugs count as 'little things'?

(They've been a welcome distraction lately...)

It seemed end-of-season for many bugs - then yesterday was warm and sunny. Cue ... bugs!

Dragonfly: Aeshna cyanea?
Cranefly: Tipula sp.?
Fly: Sargus bipunctatus?
Ladybird: Coccinella septempunctata

No idea what they're up to!

Hornets here - I never remember seeing so many in the past - have been amazingly docile. I took lots of photos of 'em drinking water from the pond...

(But yeah, they're definitely not to be messed with.)

Another hornet! Vespa crabro, From this morning.

(Last night I wondered what all the scratches on the lily-pads were from - seems it's a regular landing pad for hornets, with them coming back every few minutes! Great fun to watch...)

Big wasp / little wasp from today - Vespa crabro (male, based on number of segments in the antennae?) and an unidentifiable tiny one seen ambling across the wall next to my computer, illuminated by a desk lamp. Just a few millimetres long...
