Chose a terrible time to be less of a massive introvert. He/him, British, in Seattle. [bridged from https://pixelfed.hylobatidae.org/coprolite9000 on the fediverse by https://fed.brid.gy/ ]

(I've been super-busy with work - and have loads more photos to sort through from a weekend visit to the Conservatory. Hadn't been in for *ages*...)

This small, extravagant dragon of exotic beauty was near the Greek Theater in Syracuse.

Three different instars of Nezara viridula nymphs spotted in a west London garden, early this week - and it seems the adults look quite different again!

Sneaking into #monochromemonday with another #infrared shot - overlooking the #grandcanyon, #arizona. July 2013.

(Strictly speaking, it's *not* quite monochrome - there's some complex interplay with longer / shorter wavelength near-infrared and the bayer mask on the sensor. Ahem.)

Heermann's gull, 2012. Have to say, they're among the most stylish gulls I've seen. They look so distinct.

Visiting family. A fly landed in my beer... On closer inspection after being rescued, a tiny ichneumon wasp!

(Why do wasps, suddenly appear - every time, I am near, etc. I'd just been telling them the Good News about parasitoid wasps...)

[Cuddly spider! (Awww.)]

In case #spidersaturday is also a thing - a rather cuddly Nursery Web Spider, Pisaura mirabilis. Not sure *what* it was doing with its front legs. Indicating that it wanted a hug? Aww.

Derbyshire, yesterday […]

These are with all 37mm of newly-acquired extension tubes. Minimum focus distance is quite a lot closer - but *maximum* focus distance is 30cm or so. Which, alas, meant I missed some dramatic dragonfly behaviours...
It seemed end-of-season for many bugs - then yesterday was warm and sunny. Cue ... bugs!

Dragonfly: Aeshna cyanea?
Cranefly: Tipula sp.?
Fly: Sargus bipunctatus?
Ladybird: Coccinella septempunctata

For #throwbackThursday - some #streetphotography from #Brussels, 2006-2008.

(I feel very self-conscious when pointing a camera at people - hence my tendency towards a more detached, humans-absent style of photography. But with these shots approaching 20 years old, I feel better about sharing...)
Big wasp / little wasp from today - Vespa crabro (male, based on number of segments in the antennae?) and an unidentifiable tiny one seen ambling across the wall next to my computer, illuminated by a desk lamp. Just a few millimetres long...

The turquoise water at Sigölduglúfur results from all the silica it absorbs as it seeps from the hydroelectric reservoir and through the lava fields before emerging here. #photography #smartphone #landscape #Iceland

I'm too late for #doorsday, so I'll have to post this for #Fensterfreitag / #WindowFriday instead. #Brussels, August 2008. (Yes, I'm rummaging though the forgotten corners of my Lightroom library again...)
For #MacroMonday - bees? Lazy gits.

(Some huge fuchsia plants overflowing someone's front garden - absolutely buzzing with bees, and a couple of hornets. The bees have nibbled holes in the tops of the flowers, for more rapid access to nectar...)
