I love being a part of community conferences.

Heck, RevolutionConf was $299, and we covered two nights' hotel and travel for many speakers. It's doable if you're not greedy.

A commercial conference is charging $999 a ticket, asking me to speak.

"We'll cover registration fee. But no budget for T&E."
