“Although I spent many of my formative years living in the White House, I always knew it wasn’t my house. It was my home, absolutely, but not my house. The White House belongs to the American people, and that’s why we call it the People’s House.” www.usatoday.com/story/opinio...
Chelsea Clinton: Trump is wrecking the People's House | Exclusive
President Trump has authority over the White House and the right to turn the East Wing into a ballroom. But authority is not the same as stewardship.

The arc of the moral universe is long, but it bends towards justice. Except it doesn’t bend on its own—it bends because we pull it in the direction of justice. What keeps me hopeful during times like these is being surrounded by people who are doing just that.

In North Carolina, a gunman opened fire at a waterfront restaurant, killing three people. In Texas, a shooting at a casino killed 2 people. In Michigan, at least one worshiper died after a shooting at a Mormon church.

All in the last 24 hours.

Republicans would rather shut down the government than help millions of Americans afford health care. This article tells some of their stories, and is a good reminder of what’s at stake.

Hillary Clinton: "When I hear people like Kennedy talking about getting back to a time where we aren't vaccinating, we're drinking raw milk - yeah, & people didn't live! I mean, this is so crazy, it's so wrongheaded, it's so shortsighted and it's going to cause deaths... it already is costing lives"

In a moment like this, when tensions are high, part of the job of the president is to remind us of the ties that bind us together.

Our democracy is not self-executing. It depends on us all as citizens, regardless of our political affiliations, to stand up and fight for the core values that have made this country the envy of the world.

Trump vigorously opposed Biden's infrastructure program, calling it "a loser for the USA." But now that projects are being built, he's putting his own name on them, claiming credit for the law he tried to kill. @richardfausset.bsky.social

Kennedy has insisted covid shots are still easy to obtain, claiming that @hassan.senate.gov was “making things up to scare people.”

But The Post talked to people who are struggling to get the vaccine. Elaine Cox, a 68-year-old with lung disease, said she wept after being denied a prescription.

This is Malia Kimbrell. Her nine-year-old daughter—Vivian St. Clair—was shot three times at Annunciation Catholic School last week.

She’s demanding lawmakers prove they care about our kids with real action. Because thoughts and prayers are not enough.

Trump spoke about arming teachers today, claiming that it’s “something that a lot of people like."

This is not what teachers sign up for—they are trained to teach, not to be the first line of defense against a shooter. Forcing more guns into schools does not make us safer. https://etwn.us/3IxMC2M

It shouldn't be up to American children to save each other from getting shot.

It's the job of American adults to stop shootings from happening in the first place.

Ban assault weapons again now.

Frey: "We need an assault weapons ban nationwide. We need to have a high capacity magazine ban. And if the federal govt and states aren't gonna act, give us the ability to protect our constituents. Give mayors & council members the ability to protect in Mpls 435,000 residents that call Mpls home."

Two children were killed and seventeen people were injured in a shooting at Annunciation Catholic School.

A Cracker Barrel logo change received far more scrutiny and attention than any fight against the epidemic of gun violence in this country.

Our priorities remain idiotic.

We can't allow ourselves to become numb to mass shootings. What happened today in Minneapolis is heartbreaking, and Michelle and I are praying for the parents who have lost a child or will be sitting at their hospital bedside after yet another act of unspeakable, unnecessary violence.

Today, the children at Annunciation Catholic School were shot while praying. Two were killed in the pews.

Thoughts and prayers are NOT enough. We need immediate and comprehensive gun safety laws. That’s what saves lives.
Fuck every single legislator, lobbyist and gun nut that has blocked every action taken to stop this. Children and communities are considered collateral damage to the unfettered need for a goddamn inanimate object.
