This was a lovely event. Reading at Cork Poetry Festival this afternoon. And better still my wife and I got to have a road trip without the kids. Also ate in a gorgeous Palestinian restaurant. Brilliant day.

We're watching The Detectorists for the first time and loving it. Made me realise my ideal tv show is one where I can imagine living in that world or hanging out with the characters. Early Doors, Northen Exposure, The Good Life.

Yeah I had a bunch of 10/11 yr old boys in a poetry workshop last week and three of them wrote poems about Homer. I had to ask if this was the same Mr Simpson I'd known in my youth.

We just put curly kale, potatoes and butter in colcannon. Can't imagine parsnips or turnip in there. Best is making potatocakes with the leftovers.

This is true. My dad used to make us 'egg flips', which were just orange juice and raw eggs and they were delicious. Orange juice greatly improved.

I’m sick of finding interesting articles on videos behind a persons head. No Links. And then having to search out that article via a screengrab. Things were better ten years ago. This isn’t just me being an old man. Text based social media with hyperlinks was better. The children are wrong

Curious Irishism. In Lidl, a woman with a tray of eggs asking could she get by. Slightly panicked, she goes, "I'm up at the checkout." Evidently this was untrue, being, in fact, up at the eggs. Of course she meant, she'd left her trolley at the checkout while she went back to get eggs.
