At risk of stating the obvious, the "economics mentor" highlight distracts from what he immediately says next.

He is going to "cut off contact."

Which is to say he is withdrawing professional support because she declined to fuck him.
The emails have Summers reporting to Epstein about his attempts to date a Harvard economics student & to hit on her during a seminar she was giving.

Say it louder so EVERYONE hears this.
Chris Murphy: "This is a country that's falling apart because Trump is in the middle of an authoritarian takeover. We're not on the verge of an authoritarian takeover. We're in the middle of it ... I have no moral obligation to vote for a budget that literally funds the destruction of our democracy"

This is true, and…

It also reflects the assymetry in media. RW media trumpet every GOP/Trump achievement as a glorious success, because that is their job.

Actual journalists see puffing up those in power as the opposite of their job.
The hostage release is a reminder of how bad the Dems are at politics. Not only did Biden refuse to force this deal on Netanyahu & thereby help Harris win, but most people aren’t even aware that Biden got way more Israeli hostages (over 100) released with his 2023 ceasefire than Trump did with his.

YES!!!!! MORE OF THIS!!!!

And not because of some ‘revenge’ but because the right wing does this - not answer the question and spout off incorrect or disingenuous talking points that are off topic.

CALL THEM OUT ON IT!
STEPHANOPOULOS: I didn't insinuate anything. I asked you whether Tom Homan accepted $50k as was heard on an audio tape recorded by the FBI in September 2024. You did not answer the question. Thank you for your time.

Excellent 🧵 about maga influencers and why media’s inability to report on them accurately is so dangerous.
This week, MAGA figures claimed Kristi Noem "stared down" violent antifa protesters in Portland. Turns out they were talking mostly about a guy in a chicken suit.

This episode opens a window into how MAGA propaganda works and MSM failure to handle it. 1/

MAGA Implodes over Kristi Noem’s “Stare Down” with Man in Chicken Suit
A good New York Times piece on Portland nevertheless demonstrates how the conventions of objective reporting fail to accurately capture the bad faith driving pro-Trump propaganda.

1/ This is so f'ing outrageous. You cannot safely restrain people on their stomachs. They're going to kill people.

This is very well known now.
ICE is hog tying protesters in Portland and removing them on Dollies.

This is dangerous and could cause serious injury.

The Department of Homeland Security thinks it’s a joke.

They’ve shared this video with the tagline “Refuse to Walk? We’ll give you a ride”.

Stay strong Portland.

When Trump says that domestic violence is just a little fight and not really a crime, he is saying these murders don’t matter. This is what these little fights lead to. Because when “little fights” aren’t treated like the crimes they are, they lead to people dying at the hands of angry men.
Police arrived, but took cover when the gunman fired on them. Then he shot himself.

Why will it go unnoticed? Because the police say it was “domestic.”

Just another very angry man with a legal weapon, killing the people in his life who made him angry, then killing himself.

History tells me that the elections in 2026 and 2028 are absolutely critical to the survival of American democracy. If the American fascist party is handed another victory, we’re in for at least a generation of fascist rule before there is a revolution.

Love to see my senator, a Democrat Doing Something.

This year, I’ve already taken my kids camping in a national forest, we have trips planned for a state forest, a national recreation area, and a national park later this year.

We ❤️ our public lands!
This is great news, but I'm not breathing a sigh of relief just yet. Republicans will no doubt try to sneak a new provision in that clears this procedural hurdle. But this is a sign of what's possible with public pressure, so if you care about your public lands, keep it up.
HUGE: Senate Parliamentarian says that Mike Lee's public land sell-off violates the Byrd rule, requires 60 votes in the Senate. A bunch of other terrible anti-environment provisions do too.

This isn't over, but this is a huge win.
