Have you ever heard about PMOC? This is the equivalent of AMOC, but in the pacific and it could emerge to compensate the AMOC weakening.
A Pacific MOC (PMOC) will develop in the future to counterbalance the AMOC weakening. However, the sinking associated with the PMOC is not strong enough to completely compensate for the upwelling in the Southern Ocean; thus, the AMOC will not collapse: 🌊🥼❄️ www.nature.com/articles/s41...

The IPCC AR7 draft report is public. For those who thinks that climate science is a hoax done behind closed doors, go have a look, we have nothing to hide. #climate #IPCC
Draft chapter outline for IPCC AR7 WGI is now public - *subject to approval* at the plenary, end of Feb

What's new?

Compared to AR6:
-More concise
-greater range of modeling approaches
-chapters span Earth System domains
-considers diverse physical scenarios

The Arctic is among the most dramatically affected regions on Earth, where the impacts of global warming are unfolding at an unprecedented rate.
We've reached 1.5°C global warming.
With current policies, we're heading for a catastrophic 2.7°C warming.
A new review paper in Science shows: this would change the Arctic 'beyond recognition', with knock-on effects (like rising seas) around the world. 🌊

Watching and reading the coverage of the LA fires, I was struck by something I've not seen discussed elsewhere.

These fires are a sign of things to come, but not in the sense you're probably thinking.

A study shows that AMOC might have not declined since the 1960s. They use CMIP6 models and reanalisys to come to that conclusion.
Other study that concluded that AMOC gas decreased might have been mislead by using a proxy, SST, that has a lower relationship with AMOC than previously thought.
Has the Atlantic Meridional Overturning Circulation (AMOC) weakened over the last decades? In our new study, we combine state-of-the-art CMIP6 models and observation-based estimates of the air-sea heat flux in the North Atlantic to show that the AMOC has not declined since the 1960s! 🌊

These are the key facts everyone needs to know about climate change, according to @yaleclimatecomm.bsky.social.

I shared this post across 7 different social media platforms, including FB, LI, Mastodon, Threads, X and Twitter both pre-and post-Musk.

Here's how their engagement stacked up. 🧵
Climate Change:

It's real.

It's us.

It's serious - and already dangerous.

But there are solutions.

The science is clear: the faster we cut emissions, the less suffering we will cause, and the better off we'll all be.
