Calling it "Department of Homeland Security" normalized white supremacy. Homogenous older cultures have Homelands. Homeland, for white europeans, means exclusivity, turning away.

Young, bright democracies welcome newcomers to their Melting Pot with open arms and opportunity.

What a mistake.

Yeah, I really appreciate this thread. “Doges” instead of “dodges” broke my brain for a moment, then I giggled.

Reports of FBI arresting a judge. Details are up in the air, but this is the next stage I’ve been worried about. Could be justified, could be ridiculous charges, but judges, legislators and state officials (governors) are the next stage.

Some time in the next 12 months, our government will create a Department of Truth/Information designed to determine what is true and false information.

It will be beholden to the President’s views. There will be no guardrails.

Anyone who believes what elmo did was not a Nazi Salute should post a video of themselves making the same arm gesture. Go ahead, y'all, let's see it.

They won't even show up for press briefings, so I guess they don't have to worry about any ouchies.

Just saw this which would absolutely blow up the House. Couldn’t get a single thing done. I don’t even really want to start thinking about Elmo having access to daily intelligence reports. I hate this timeline.

It’s a great thread. I had to take a break and have yet to get back to it. It’s sitting waiting for me.

In 24ish hours the Federal Government will shut down if a deal is not reached.

Mike Johnson had 85 days to get this done, this is House Republican’s fault.

This fantastic thread about what’s happening right now with US federal funding in Congress includes this mighty gem:

“the House GOP [is] a collection of cowards, led by morons.”
Brief thread on how we got here: Since the GOP won control of the House 2 years ago they have not passed a single appropriations package into law. Government has operated at funding levels set by Dems 2 years ago via continuing resolutions every few months. This is not normal.

My view of Originalism is that the Constitution is Intended to be Originally a living breathing document and we shouldn’t confine ourselves to 18th Century set in stone language, and instead modify the Intent of the document as society evolves.

A split GA Ct. App. panel ruled DA Fani Willis is disqualified from Trump’s racketeering case over an alleged “appearance of impropriety” tied to her relationship w/ another prosecutor

But bipartisan experts say ethics rules don’t require disqualification 👇 1/x

Interesting. However, this gives me pause:

>Firstly and perhaps most importantly, selection bias is possible because individuals who are at higher risk of developing Alzheimer’s disease may be less likely to enter or remain in memory intensive driving occupations such as taxi and ambulance driving.

It's raining in SF which means the traditional start of our ant home invasions. Some observations:

- Argentine Ants are tuned really well
- Ants have a special pheromone signal for jar lid encrusted with honey
- #Silo (TV show) answers the question: what if human society looked like an ant colony?

This place was built it large part by a wave of trans early adopters and it’s a fucking insult that the mods here are letting a deliberate troll like Singal set up shop here to bully and harass them.

This isn’t a hard call, guys. Not at all.

Yup. Rolled oats, handful of raisins, dash of salt. Bring to a simmer and then on the back burner for ten minutes, stirring at 5.

A little butter and honey for toppings.

The greens make plenty of room for cognitive dissonance. I was green for a while here in SF just to have something different than D on my ballot. Years ago when Dr Stein (MD) caved and became an antivaxer to retain the party top slot, I was through.

I make a bunch of raisin oatmeal for a few mornings to be reheated in the microwave. Sometimes I’ll have it at night with a little butter and honey. So good.
