The suggestion from O'Donovan that a hotel tax would result in tourists exclusively staying in Wicklow and Kildare is one of the most offensively stupid things I've ever seen.
A hotel tax in Dublin city would be around €5 per night based on examples from other cities which is less than a return fare to Wicklow or Kildare. Not to mention at least 1.5 hrs commuting. A completely bad faith argument from Patrick O'Donovan.
