The 'Bantam' pedestal box - more properly the 'Type N' - was the last of the type lettered pillar boxes. Introduced in 1999, it featured an updated collection system. Welsh language versions were also produced - the first time this had been seen on a postbox #postboxsaturday

A detail of books or perhaps legal paperwork, from an 1854 picture at the National Gallery of Scotland, entitled ‘Bailie Macwheeble at Breakfast’ by James Eckford Lauder. Macwheeble was a lawyer in Walter Scott’s Waverley.

A superb blog here on Jack Clemo @exeterunispeccoll.bsky.social

“The conkers from Vallombrosa Woods, shown in the bottom shelf of the exhibition, were stored in a heart-shaped box as a gift to Clemo’s wife.”

I’ve often kept and given conkers as gifts too. I wonder if this is a common practice?
Student volunteer, Ted, has written a fantastic new blog post to accompany his exhibition on the Cornish poet & writer, Jack Clemo: 'Exhibition of a Rebel'.

Read it here! ➡️ specialcollections.exeter.ac.uk/2025/11/26/j...

This exhibition is free for all to visit on Level -1 of the Forum Library.

Communities need used-book shops.

As the trends in our world are increasingly standardized and entrenched by "predictive" technologies that stifle innovation and reduce human actions into economic categories...

We need a full range of possibilities for readers and communities to explore and share.
