This Super Bowl Sunday, I’d like to introduce you all to the magical curse bowls used in Upper Mesopotamia and Syria in late antiquity. Written in Mandaic (as here) or Syriac Aramaic, they trap demons who trespass on a household by sucking them in with spiraling spells to the center of the bowl.

For a min I thought I forgot to take my annual Birthday Selfie™️, a tradition going back to...I think 2006 or 2008?

And then I remembered I was at pole class for my birthday and definitely took one 😌

I'm not as skinny as I used to be but I feel a fuckton better about myself at 39 than I did at 19

Btw I really recommend digging into philosophy for any strong placements in your natal chart

I started in on desire because my L5 is Mars conj the NN: an endless and aggressive all-consuming hunger

Gaining different perspectives adds tools and insights for navigating it
My current reading is prompting thoughts on the 5H in general and as Venus's place of joy in particular

As a Hellenistic astrologer, I find it important to consider not just astrological texts but also philosophical ones, because astrology and its delineations didn't come together in a vacuum

One of my favorite one-two punches is the "hide reply for everyone" button followed by the "block"

Go argue with the wall, fucker 😌

The alien ambassador sidled through the museum in awe.

"You Humans have so much art! Do you have machines to make all paintings, poems, stories and songs?"

"We experimented with that, briefly," the guide said. "But humans are both cheaper and more creative. And, well, we will make art regardless."

If you're tired of Adobe Acrobat for PDF stuff, try Qoppa PDF Studio Pro.

I bought a license a few years ago and have been very happy with it. All the things I needed from Adobe, with no subscription fees.

It looks janky but I got it via my uni: www.qoppa.com/pdfstudio/

Not an ad, I just like it.

Venus + Moon are my main timelords this year

That eclipse is in the 1st from my sect light with dodecatemory in natal 7H, so activating 1H/7H matters for me

Venus will be conj the NN on my Lot of Harmony...

Wishful thinking activated lol 🥺
That period ends with a bang though, as Mars entering Pisces is followed up by a lunar eclipse in the opposite sign, Virgo

I don't love Valentine's Day this year—I think Saturn into Aries and the Feb 17 eclipse will overshadow it—but Venusian things should feel nicer than they have in a while
February 7, 2026 at 2:28 PM
Greatly looking forward to finally having a Venus in Pisces transit without Saturn being co-present 😌

Venus enters Pisces February 10, Saturn leaves for Aries February 13, and then we get about 2.5 weeks with Venus in aversion to both malefics

TW: SCROLL BY THIS vid of ICE violence if you need to, it’s bad.

This is why observers are needed…
“CBS LA: Video shows immigration agents clashing with protesters in Ventura County”

This ICE-hole picked up this small woman in a hat and dress, then slammed her on the concrete. Then, when a male bystander tried to help her, they blasted him with pepper spray!

people are working themselves up in a frenzy, convinced they're utterly helpless without software younger than still-fresh canned tuna. we have been making art for at least 50,000 years, get a grip

@grundrza.bsky.social is also great on the chilling effect this censorship in Florida is having on classes. The haphazard and random nature of who gets targeted is designed to make everyone terrified.

I do want to shout-out my fellow sociologists, who have collectively created a discipline so woke that not a single one of our introductory textbooks can make it past Florida's censors.

Great work everyone.

The more I allow myself to accept my 4H Libra Moon as Asc ruler, the more delightful it is to be in my own comfy bed, with my own perfectly squishy pillows and soft sheets and heaps of blankets, in my own preferred state of undress, with my full range of toys available 😌

I taught a class on “hope” last year and the few theorists who’ve written on it all point out that hope is the harder choice - that despair is easy and too often fashionable
Too many people on Bluesky think that relentless expressions of despair are a sign of intellectual sophistication.
