I just think about the media literacy aspects. Like the Nazis hearing "Nazi punks fuck off" and shrugging. Since I have not looked her up much so far and all I see is her musical affiliations.

Well at least it wasn't a bork to your system thing. Recently, did that to my Ubuntu for a little bit. Fixed it quickly, but messy 30 mins.

We are there. It’s fascism. I think people are afraid to admit it because it will require them to admit things about themselves that they aren’t comfortable with.

People liked thinking they would risk more when it was theoretical.

I was expecting with this sort of thing being pushed during the summer of 2024 when we already knew that both Drake and Trump were "weird" pedophiles and that it could have actually made a difference. But the donors silenced all of that too quickly.

IIRC Zelevinsky had some story about what the immigration officer told him. Something along the lines of an immediate approval and we need more people like you.

According to Taleb, the COVID-19 pandemic was not a black swan, as it was expected with great certainty that a global pandemic would eventually take place.[11][12] Instead, it is considered a white swan—such an event has a major effect, but is compatible with statistical properties

another major difference is Wikipedia was/is a collective project of humans trying to explain human knowledge to each other, funded by donations and not aiming to profit
One major difference is that “don’t cite Wikipedia as a source” was the prevailing sentiment in for its first 15 years of existence. Within a year of its introduction, lawyers and corporate leaders cite chatgpt with little shame or introspection
Some of the anti-AI stuff feels a bit like when people would say "don't use Wikipedia as a source." It's just like anything else, a piece of information that you weigh against multiple sources and your own understanding of its likely failure modes

This was my terrible idea.

Me: I loved Ed and Eric talking about their Realization moments when it came to Musk. We should discuss that!

BT: hm, okay, I’ll think about it.

Me: I’m sorry, man.
