Boston Buckberger scores with 23.1 seconds left in regulation to make this a 5-5 game.

Two for Buckberger, three goals by the defense corps in the game, 21 in 15 games this year.

Wild night at Ball Arena.
Zeev Buium is one of the best defensemen in DU history, and left a huge hole in the Pios' defense corps.

As prepare to face Minnesota at Ball Arena, the No. 4-ranked Pios appear to have one of the best defense corps in the nation.

"The show goes on."

Even without Zeev Buium, DU Pioneers’ defense corps looks like one of the nation’s best: ‘The show goes on’
The University of Denver Pioneers hockey team only had to replace one defenseman from a team that reached the Frozen Four last season.

Denver is tied with Minnesota 1-1 after 20 minutes. The Pios had 37 shot attempts and 25 SOGs in the opening period.

Defenseman Boston Buckberger has the goal. Defeseman Eric Pohlkamp had 5 SOGs and a huge open-ice hit.

The Colorado Avalanche have won 12 games by 3+ goals.

There are 28 NHL teams that have not won 12 games in regulation.

A guy who was seen on video pissing on his rival's field at New Mexico State is going to be in New York City soon as a Heisman Trophy candidate for Vanderbilt.

College football remains the best.

#Avs coach Jared Bednar said Nathan MacKinnon was under the weather today.

He had three points.
November 29, 2025 at 11:40 PM
Martin Necas had a bad day at the office yesterday.

He is having a very good one today. If hockey had a successful take-ons stat like they do in futbol, No. 88 would have ... many, today.
November 29, 2025 at 10:23 PM
Gabe Landeskog has his second goal of the day, from Nathan MacKinnon and Martin Necas. PPG.

7-2 #Avs

Five guys with multiple points today, led by Nelson's four.

And some "Landy" chants at Ball Arena.
November 29, 2025 at 10:21 PM
Devon Toews tried to get the puck to Martin Necas on a 2-on-1. Mike Matheson knocked it into his own net.

First goal of the year for Toews.

6-1 #Avs

Given that it is Rivalry Saturday in college football, this has become a proper #B2A at Ball Arena.

This is Brock Nelson's first four-point game game since Nov. 4, 2021. He scored four goals that day.

Anyone want to guess who the opponent was that day? Should only need one guess (given that I am asking and worded it like that).
November 29, 2025 at 10:08 PM
The Habs played yesterday in a different time zone (so did the #Avs) and you shouldn't really be in the business of drawing conclusions about a team based on one game.

That said, their effort in the defensive zone has looked awful at times today. Avs are getting whatever they want.

Nathan MacKinnon gets No. 20 of the year. Great pass from Cale Makar to start the play. Gabe Landeskog shot, MacKinnon rebound.

5-1 #Avs

#Avs Mackenzie Blackwood's shutout streak ends at 174 minutes, 31 seconds.
November 29, 2025 at 9:26 PM
Juraj Slafkovsky just made a sick spin move to set up Ivan Demidov for a one-timer.

Very pretty. After some, uh, optional defending at the other end that almost led to Colorado's 5th goal had Gabe Landeskog's stick not broke.

4-1 #Avs
November 29, 2025 at 9:25 PM
#Avs Brock Nelson is punking the Habs today. He has put together quite the highlight reel in just 25 minutes.
November 29, 2025 at 9:17 PM
Brock Nelson gets his second goal back. People who weren't paying attention a few minutes ago are throwing their hats.

2-on-0, Nelson misses the net, Necas corrals it, dekes a guy and sets up Nelson for a layup.

4-0 #Avs

This has not been a fair fight at 5-on-5 today.
November 29, 2025 at 9:16 PM
Second #Avs goal has been changed to Gabe Landeskog.

Still a three-point day for Brock Nelson (1G, 2A). Hockey gods giving 92 one back after the early-season weird stuff.
November 29, 2025 at 9:13 PM
Brent Burns picks a corner after Brock Nelson wins the draw back to him. Shot it through a Gabe Landeskog screen.

3-0 #Avs, 50 seconds into the second period
November 29, 2025 at 9:11 PM
We are getting an ice maintenance break here. The net won't stay on the moorings behind Jakub Dobes.

The #Avs power play at that end included multiple guys falling down at the end and MacKinnon/Necas both flubbing passes they make in their sleep.
November 29, 2025 at 8:44 PM
Josh Anderson wiping out and knocking Gabe Landeskog into the net. Clearly.

And ... the goal stands.

Still 2-0, #Avs power play incoming.
The puck is in the Habs net. It was called a goal on the ice. We'll see.

Josh Anderson fell down and took out Gabe Landeskog.

2-0 #Avs, pending a potential challenge

Ice looks ... not great today. Guys are falling everywhere. Think it just helped the Avs score a goal.
