Hot take: Working another weekend this semester, I am left wondering: Why does the #NLProc publication process have so much artificial urgency baked into it? Requiring responses within 24h, emergency reviewers, everything urgent. Like, why?

Slow science can also be a community goal.

People make prompting too hard. Most people would benefit from just using good enough prompting techniques. I outline some basic rules, including why “treat AI like an intern” is no longer the advice I would give new AI users. www.oneusefulthing.org/p/getting-st...

How to write a grant?
1. The application is for the reviewer, not you, the applicant.
2. Communicate in stories.
3. Make your story cohesive—leave no puzzling gaps.
4. Make your story resonate to keep the reviewer reading.
5. Accept chance and noise in peer-review.

I always feel uneasy when companies offer „free“ educational resources related to their own service. What do you think-are these resources helpful?

I created a starter pack for human-AI collaboration in case that this would be helpful for some newcomers, which overlaps with several existing starter packs. Let me know if you would like to be added.

After closing my X account and not feeling home on Mastodon, I felt a bit lonely 🫥. I really missed the inspiration from my research community. However, @cfiesler.bsky.social mentioned that Bluesky might be the new home 🏡. So here I am, giving it a try! Hello, bsky community! 👋
