Carbon capture is a ploy, a distraction, a nefarious deception by the fossil fools, no different than the tobacco industry telling consumers not to worry: they’ll put filters on their cigarettes. www.youtube.com/watch?v=MSZg...

For those who missed it, two very interesting reports have been released in the past several days.

The first is from the International Institute for Sustainable Development: "The Production Gap Report 2025":

The Production Gap Report 2025
The Production Gap Report 2025 finds that 10 years after the Paris Agreement, governments plan to produce more than double the volume of fossil fuels in 2030 than would be consistent with limiting glo...

The climate change challenge is our only option and we need to do it together.
’Undermining that confidence by dismissing UN climate conferences as pointless risks slowing this progress. Cop critics like to think of themselves as brave tellers of truth to power. They may end up merely being Donald Trump’s unwitting accomplices.’

The UN climate summits are working – just not in the way their critics think
Many say UN climate summits are pointless. They’re wrong.

A new edition of the UNEP's Emissions Gap Report is out. It shows countries making little progress in ramping up ambition, and the very low likelihood of current commitments limiting warming to 1.5 degrees.

We're probably avoiding 3 degrees, but there's much more to do. www.unep.org/resources/em...

Mark Carney has always been a big believer in the importance of good climate policy. Now it's time for him to deliver some of his own — and actually explain it to Canadians. www.nationalobserver.com/2025/10/30/o...
Mark Carney needs to come clean on climate
The prime minister has been conspicuously quiet about an issue that seemed to define his politics before he entered the partisan arena. That needs to change.

“If much of the rest of the world is in a state of prolonged recession or depression because of climate change, there is no way that Canada, on a GDP per capita basis, could really benefit," said researcher Timothy Neal. www.nationalobserver.com/2025/10/29/n...
Climate change will hurt Canada's GDP more than previously thought
New economic research indicates Canada (and all countries) will see a larger hit to GDP thanks to climate change.

Hurricane Melissa could be one of the most worst hurricanes on record for Jamaica...and it's a textbook example of how climate change is making hurricanes more dangerous: explosive intensification, slow movement, and massive rainfall.

If you know any there, please make sure they’re prepared 🙏

Canada, let’s stop doubling down on bad bets
Expanding fossil fuel exports won’t secure Canada’s future — it will strand it.

"Oil companies made the people of Alberta a deal: if they come on your land to drill, you'll be paid for it & it gets cleaned up. What's happened instead, with a multi-billion dollar price tag attached, is oil companies take all the profits & skip out on those cleanup costs, leaving them with YOU."
A dirty deal's being cooked up between the Alberta government & #BigOil so they can stick their MULTI-BILLION DOLLAR cleanup tab on YOU the taxpayer while a grotesquely complicit #AER watches & shrugs. Here's some of the people saying HELL NO #abpoli #PolluterPays www.podcastics.com/episode/3890...

Three key points in my recent gov't testimony about Canada's climate efforts:
1) The 2030 Emissions Reduction Plan, though bolder than past plans, was not sufficient
2) That plan is not being sufficiently implemented
3) Good climate policy is in the long-term economic interests of Canada
