as a comedy writer something I love about these protests is how many genuinely creative and funny bits there are. the cava bags, this text chain. even a sign as simple as “honk if you’re not in the epstein files” really tickled me. very good stuff all around.

Speaking freely is a right, it matters deeply to us. When pundits & politicians vilify folks who stand up for their beliefs, I ask "Why?" Is it about safety...or control? It's not about patriotism. Democracy can’t be defended by silence. Speak up #TruthBrigade truthbrigade.indivisible.org/s/WcMMDBth

Wow, WTF
🧵
NY-17 Rep. Mike Lawler had a local social worker physically dragged out of his town hall Sunday night.

Emily Feiner was singled out by private security, lifted out of her seat, as the crowd chanted “let her stay” and “shame, shame.”
She’s a constituent.
Not a threat.
Fascism again.

I know a lot of folks still wonder where to start and what they can do to put an end to the destruction coming from this administration. Not everyone has to do everything, but picking one or two things off this list is a beginning.

The Trump-Supreme Court battle is not really the crisis.

The crisis is here now. Trump is enacting an insidious coordinated attack on our institutions of democratic accountability, designed to crater democracy before next fall.

1/ A long 🧵to explain the plan & how we stop it.

NOW it makes sense. Keep protesting! Remember, only 3.5% of the population needs to rise up (peacefully!) to bring about massive change.
Those trying to understand the tariffs as economic policy are dangerously naive.

No, the tariffs are a tool to collapse our democracy. A means to compel loyalty from every business that will need to petition Trump for relief.

1/ A 🧵 to explain his plan and how we fight back.

Great idea. Not only does it help folks cut through red tape, but red state members of Congress need to be overwhelmed with constituent calls on this issue.
I have been hearing from people that they have been having issues accessing their Social Security accounts. INSTEAD of going to a branch which may be hundreds or 1Ks+ of miles away from you, call your members of Congress. They have constituent services that will help you regain access. Please share!

Dems must hold on to Wisconsin! Let's show Elon that his money can't buy EVERYTHING.
It’s GOTV weekend in Wisconsin. You can help us stop Elon Musk from buying a seat on the Wisconsin Supreme Court and ending the liberal majority in this battleground state.

If this is real - and we should verify it is - we all really HAVE to demonstrate we have Senate Dems' backs. Next week is congressional recess. If this holds, be ready with a loud and enthusiastic THANK YOU if you have a Dem Senator. This is how we build a unified opposition party.
"Our caucus is unified," says Schumer.

Team Fight has won the CR battle in the Senate Democratic caucus.
Schumer on Senate floor: "Funding the government should be a bipartisan effort, but Republicans chose a partisan path"

"Because of that Republicans do not have the votes in the Senate to invoke cloture on the House CR. Our caucus is unified" on the month-long CR

Haha, yes, yes and yes.
I sincerely don’t know why people aren’t physically stopping those dorks. Move shit. Lock doors. Lose the keys. Everyone switch seats. Turn off all the lights. Switch the signs on the elevator lobby. Make the settings all silly. Use a different language. Wear costumes. Fill rooms with balloons

Yes. Legislators put a lot of work into getting jobs & funds into their districts. As pauses and cuts happen, call your MOC and demand an answer to this question: "How are you going to protect my job??"
As this "pause" hits you and your project, institution, workplace, etc:

TELL SOMEONE ABOUT IT.

Contact your MoC, esp if they're a Dem. Contact a relevant advocacy group. Contact the press, local, regional, movement, trade - and not just for an LtE, for a story.

Tell real life stories of harm.

A sliver of good news. I'll take it.
Lots of reporting suggested that, this time around, Trump and his lawyers would avoid the sloppy legal work that plagued his first administration so they’d fare better in the courts. I see no evidence of that in this round of executive orders. This is poor, slipshod work obviously assisted by AI.
