Clart avoidance last week. Wind sculpted sands before Steetley Pier looked like a work of art. The pier itself is the most photogenic structure ever!! The wind was bitter so we cut through Spion Kop Cemetery for a quicker getaway!

86th walk this morning, out on Portgate to Heavenfield section of Hadrian's Wall Path National Trail. Like this post, to be in with a chance of winning a hand-painted Acorn on sea coal. 👇Winner picked at random from likes - Sunday 30th Nov. at 7.00 pm GMT.

“One day you will be loved unconditionally. Probably by a dog.”

Looking a bit worn after a few years on the beach. The other posts have vanished under the sand I think. There was a funny one about a well known Headland chippy and it’s very limited opening times 🤭

Laine has captured this beautiful fire installation perfectly. Hundreds of flaming fire cans flickering in the dark.

One from Wintertide last night. It was too much faff with gloves, pockets and phones to take any more pics! Loved having a walk around the Headland in the dark. The light installations were perfect on a dark wintery night. Huge well done to all involved #Wintertide25 #HartlepoolHeadland

For the first time in ages……..
For the time in ages we found the time to have a family walk. Along the top to Steetley Pier then dropped down on to the sands to walk back. Sun in our eyes and a sea breeze to blow away the cobwebs. Not a long walk but enough to get the feel good factor and forget responsibilities for a while.

The long black spine of the pier juts out across sleeping sand. Beneath the dark trestle-work, the North Sea offers a repetitive apology around the barnacled pillars. Beyond the hiss of waves hang the colours of the sky-pale blue, a whisper of peach,
streaks of yolk-yellow not yet sharpened to gold.

I wonder if Nigel Farage will be giving a press conference on this one?

Nature isn’t a “blocker” – it makes our lives better.

Our coast, countryside, heritage and wildlife underpin our food, water and health and put millions of pounds into the economy. The Government must not weaken the laws that protect them.

Watching Labour MPs take a wrecking ball to nature makes me so angry & so sad. Their action tonight voting down amendments to the #PlanningBill intended to protect wildlife & habitats from destruction is so reckless & so counterproductive. People didn’t vote Labour for this 👇

The Prime Minister must pick up the phone now to Donald Trump. We have 24 hours to stop Trump’s billion-dollar raid on British licence fee payers.

We’ve written to the PM, calling on him to demand that Trump drop his ludicrous $1 billion lawsuit against the BBC.

This week's #TerrierTuesday theme chosen by @dogtorapproximate.bsky.social is #HiVis and Heidi has a range of suitably neon outfits for spotting her in the woods or snow, and at night too 🧡💛🩷

There are some great entries so far, so keep them coming!

Second swim of the week (trying to catch up on missing a few weeks) Unfortunately I think the massive slice of battenburg post swim has negated all the health benefits of cold water immersion #Seaham #Swimming #Cake

A morning swim to start the new week. We’ve missed a couple of weeks (not enough hours in the day) and the sea is now prickly cold. Still did a couple of widths 🥶😂 #Seaham #NovemberSwim
