The infamous US DOE climate report, written by a bunch of climate misinformers, claims that "sea level [is] rising at a lower rate than predicted" by the IPCC up to 2050.
Not true. If you simply take the observed rise and extrapolate (blue), you get the same rise as IPCC predicted by 2050. 1/2

Nice FT citing Ireland, where data centre power demand has massively outpaced clean power growth - meaning increased burning of fossil fuels

You can't rely on an assumption of infinite, exponential, unstoppable renewable energy to excuse data centre expansionism.

Reynolds then talks about the
- £3.4 billion from UK-US tariff deal
- £14 billion from UK-EU reset
- £4.8 billion from UK-India

That's £22 billion, which doesn't come close to recovering the £140 billion in trade with the EU that is lost by keeping the UK outside the EU Single Market

Good to see this issue being raised. I don't think most people realise that councils can't/won't maintain the roads on many new housing estates, so the owners have to pay for it privately. This isn't fair, as they're paying the same council tax as everyone else, to maintain other roads.
Imagine buying a new-build and paying full council tax, only to find you must pay a private company to fix the road and streetlights - and the fees can rise at any point with no explanation.

Also, you live by road full of potholes that apparently nobody owns

Who is accountable in privatised Britain?
From unadopted housing estates to a road no one seems to own – hollowed-out local government can no longer cope.

Want mass heat pump adoption? Fix the running costs.

The electricity-to-gas price ratio is key. When policy makes electricity artificially expensive, the cleaner choice isn't the cheaper one. It's time to rebalance energy taxes, as this @thecccuk.bsky.social chart highlights.

The takeaway here is that energy suppliers are gradually shifting to energy technology providers, and breaking down barriers to demand for that tech by shifting their product offering to 'energy as a service' models.
