Look who was out on the Raccoonobahn possibly hunting squirrels this afternoon!!!!
Grey fox running up and down, squirrels all up in the trees chattering away as were the birds. I slowed the first 30secs or so so we could see him/her better. I went out and saw him in person. 😍

A cropped day photo from my camera trap. It shows the raccoonobahn, the area between two wooden fences used extensively by the local wildlife. There are railroad ties running along the bottom of the right hand fence. A grey fox is coming towards the camera so we see his silver grey colored back and neck up to his face. He's a tan color underneath and on his legs. His ears are tan too. His face is mostly grey to silver with a white patch under his eyes and an area of black on his muzzle near his black nose. He is absolutely stunning

Two evenly-matched males spent the afternoon lazily sparring while waiting for the bay to freeze. #BearSeason2025 #Mammals 🌿
Two male polar bears lie on the snowy ground facing each other and lazily mouth at each other's head. The bears are up on all fours now with one draping himself over the back of the other who chomps on the loose fur around his opponent's neck. Polar bear moms are fierce. This mom watched three different males approaching her nap spot, posing a threat to her cub. They retreated with Mom stopping to assess the situation regularly. You can see a pretty serious scar on her face, indicating that she was quick to defend her cubs. #mammals 🌿

Alishan being its usual beautiful self today. (Photo taken on the Shuishan Sacred Tree trail, which has had similarly dramatic light both times I’ve walked it.)

I got to spend time with this 2-year-old black bear earlier this summer. You can tell the bear is young by its ears. Black bears tend to grow into their ears. #mammals 🌿
