✨ Book Deal Alert! ✨ GODDESS OF LOVE, the third and final novel in my Nightingale Trilogy, arrives in 2027 from @bywaterbooks.bsky.social! A new case—and the long-awaited reckoning for Judy and Philippa. I can’t wait to share the ending I’ve been building toward since THE SAVAGE KIND.

Dear Los Angeles,

Come get your sun, it's drunk. Also, please return our rain when you get a chance.

Love, The Pacific Northwest
View from my deck. Glaring sun in a clear blue sky over the Tacoma Narrows. Bridge and mountain are visible in the distance. It's too damn bright.

Newsflash: noted bi icon is iconic. Also I NEED this shirt.

Me and @vpkeenan.bsky.social enjoying some horror movie inspired cocktails at Navy Strength. His is "Cleaners of the Rotten" inspired by When Evil Lurks and mine is a non-alcoholic "Samara's Cup" based on the American remake of The Ring. Recipe book coming soon, so stay tuned...
Me and Vince at a tiki bar decorated for Halloween. His cocktail has a glowing green ice cube. Mine has a blood orange and apricot garnish.

UNTIL IT’S DONE, Ep. 4: Sylvia Rivera

In the 1970s, queer New Yorkers had been pushed to the margins of NYC. Our trans neighbors faced immense cruelty. But in Sylvia Rivera, they found a champion.

As we combat Trump’s politics of darkness, her legacy can light the path forward.

SOME PERSONAL NEWS! Cannot wait to get A HELL OF A DRINK out there in 2027. Chris Elford is a dear friend and a genius bartender. His horror movie inspired cocktails are fantastic. Every Sasquatch book is gorgeous. Halloween will never be the same again!

Feared this would happen, but hearing the news is still a gut punch. This is where Rosemarie and I co-hosted Noir City Seattle with Eddie Muller for years. Thinking back on the last films I saw here, 4K restorations of THE CONVERSATION and LE SAMOURAI. A fitting way to bring down the curtain.

Not sure what just happened to me now that WOLF'S HOLE is over. I was more worried about Pista the dog than any of the human characters but (spoilers) he survived. Anyway, onward...

One of my favorite film discoveries of 2025. Incredible. A crisscrossing web of kink and terror, all cradled within a hothouse city seemingly always descending deeper and deeper into a fever of faceless bodies all lithe and leatherclad.

Do not buy my books from Amazon or Down and Out Books directly. I will not get paid. I should get paid, as per my contract, but in an email from D&O I’ve been told ‘no further payments will be issued.’
It absolutely blows it is ending this way, but man, pay your authors what they are owed.

Hate that it has come to this, but the @latimes.com has left its staff hanging with years of bad faith bargaining.

I’d much rather be focused on doing critical reporting for you all in times like these, but since The Times can’t get serious at the table, I’m voting yes.
