The Mórrígan: Irish goddess of war, fate & sovereignty. She shapeshifts from crow, wolf, eel, woman, foretelling doom, guiding battles, haunting heroes like Cú Chulainn. A force of chaos & prophecy in Ireland’s oldest myths. #Morrigan #IrishMythology #Ireland

Delighted that I’ve been accepted to the MA in Gaelic Literature & Culture at UCC starting September! I’ve long loved Irish sagas, mythology & manuscripts & now I get to study them properly. So excited to delve in. Expect lots of posts on myth, folklore & ancient texts over the next two years! 📚✨

I’ve always been fascinated by keening the ancient vocal lament once heard at funerals in Ireland and Scotland.

This 1950s recording,m, is the first I’ve heard. It’s not what I expected, rhythmic, haunting &unexpectedly beautiful. #Folklore #Keening

Beautiful old wrought iron gates near Colligan Woods, #Waterford quiet markers of Waterford’s rural past. Standing watch as the landscape changes around them.

Always lots of pebble flint at Ballinard, Ballinacourty strand. We found various worked flint pieces at Gallowshill over the years excavating that originated from pebble #Flint , maybe even from Ballinacourty! A report dated them to the late #Neolithic period. Helvick in the distance.
A Glimpse Through Time 💕
A photo can capture a moment but sometimes, it holds entire lifetimes. In this photo, taken by Edmond Keohan, four generations of women and one small boy quietly speak volumes.
Seated to the right is Ellen O’Mahoney, my 3x great-grandmother, born in Aglish in 1838.
Helvickhead, An Rinn #Waterford ❤️ a view of Helvick is especially beautiful as you round the bend on the pike towards Dungarvan #stunning
