In today's headlines: Pacifist house cat sniffs clothes moth to death.

(and ended up posing for the second weirdest photo I've ever taken of him :) )
Extreme close up on the adorable face of our adorable cat named Oscar, a small clothes moth stuck to his adorable nose.

What D’Angelo said Black Messiah means. It came out at the end of 2014 and it was so needed.
Article (Nolan Feeney; TIME) excerpt reads: “Black Messiah is a hell of a name for an album. It can be misunderstood. Many will think it's about religion. Some will jump to the conclusion that I'm calling myself a Black Messiah. For me, the title is about all of us. It's about the world. It's about an idea we can all aspire to. We should all aspire to be a Black Messiah.

It's about people rising up in Ferguson and in Egypt and in Occupy Wall Street and in every place where a community has had enough and decides to make change happen, D'Angelo writes in a statement about the album It's not about praising one charismatic leader but celebrating thousands of them. Not every song on this album is politically charged (though many are), but calling this album Black Messiah creates a landscape there these songs can live to the fullest. Black Messiah is not one man. It's a feeling that, collectively, we are all that leader.”

“D’Angelo’s First Album in 14 Years Is Finally Here, and It’s Surprisingly Timely” via TIME.

D'Angelo to Rolling Stone in 2015:

"The music business is a crazy game, especially for somebody like me who is really a purist about the art ... Trying to balance the pressures of commercialism, it’s a tightrope."

(No shade to this particular book or its author at all btw; just been losing patience a little with the 'literacy crisis' discourse centering around young people's attention spans, digital media etc and never mentioning people having to work themselves to death)

I haven't managed to read a full book in almost six years now, and I want to desperately. But each time I try, my mind goes "wait, I can't monetize this".

Steve Pugh was one of the first pro comic artists who said nice things about my work back when I was just another new (and literal) kid. So even though he most likely doesn't remember me at all, whenever I see a new book of his announced, I think to myself: "I'm happy for you, my friend Steve Pugh".

From Wynonna Earp Legends - Doc Holliday #1 (2016)
Panel from the first issue of the Wynonna Eap Legends, Doc Holliday comic book series. Wynonna, Valdez and Doc are at a book fair. It looks festive with smiling people and no fires and all the stores look fine. There is no plywood.

When I try, I just end up playing the levels carefully aiming/timing jumps like Mario and lacking momentum to go through loopings etc. 😕

Confession: in all my life I've never understood Sonic the Hedgehog.

It obviously wants you to go fast all the time, but then it *also* clearly wants you to collect as many rings as possible, making you abruptly stop going fast each time you need to go back for missed rings.

I mean, what... ? 😕

#Comics folks, I need you to pull up to this one.

The world sucks right now, and we have the opportunity to do a little bit of good for a displaced and marginalized member of our community. Please join me in supporting this KS campaign!

www.kickstarter.com/projects/den...
If you're somebody who values supporting marginalized voices in comics, here's your chance to put your money where your values are!

The writer of this RINGO NOM’D INDIE COMIC (and a very dear friend of mine) is a Syrian Refugee who has been through more continuous hardships than I have space to list here; constantly navigating visa applications, unstable living conditions, predatory landlords (limited options as a refugee).

Anas just wants to make comics and live a normal life like what so many of us take for granted. Backing this campaign will help Anas to take the next step toward freedom and autonomy, helping to fund a move to another country with more stable employment options. This is truly one of the most important comics purchases you will ever make.

Middle Eastern and North African comics creators are some of the most underrepresented in the comics industry of the western world. Anas isn’t running a GoFundMe to support this move, and is not asking for charity. Simply, Anas is using their talent for storytelling, along with Dennis’ gorgeous art, to offer you a beautiful experience in the comics medium, that also goes toward funding a better life for Anas.

I’m so proud of Anas, and humbled by their experiences and perseverance. I would like to see Anas’ Dream realized, and I’d love to see this community help to make that happen. Please join me in pledging to the Etheres Kickstarter campaign! (link below). Etheres cover B

If you haven't sung along with the bouncing dot karaoke theme song intro as a kid playing the original C64 Ghostbusters video game, have you really played the original C64 Ghostbusters video game? 🤔😁

Basically a remake of the original Commodore 64 Ghostbusters where you start out like this, and gradually work your way up towards the Spook Central climax:

The ultimate Ghostbusters video game wouldn't be about recreating your favorite moments with a boring Bill Murray on a nostalgia trip, but an 'X-COM: UFO Defense' style strategy/business sim & Reagan-era satire where you start your small business with a second mortgage on your parents' house.
