But I still don’t know what that means in terms of raw numbers or influence. Also, almost every leftist I know of in a red or swing state voted blue (myself included). There were certainly ones who sat out but I think you’re overstating their impact

No, I lived there briefly but have been in SWVA almost my whole life. I also have family in SC & have spent quite a bit of time there as well. Not gonna pretend I’m an expert obvs but I’m not clueless about race & politics in this region either

Can you at least operationally define this “left” you keep mentioning? It sounds pretty nebulous & I suspect that’s deliberate. It’s also interesting that you can decide Zell Miller is “irrelevant” after 20 years, but somehow the beliefs/behaviors of 70+ year old parishioners in SC are timeless 🙄

Yeah, great, I’m also from SWVA & have been to lunchbag many times. So nah, you almost certainly *have not*. But even if that were the case, it does not give you authority in terms of this particular debate & honestly the assumptions you’re making about a broad swath of the electorate are offensive

Also, why is Bernie stuck with Briahna joy gray & Tulsi Gabbard but the DNC can wash its hands so easily of a Joe Manchin or Zell Miller or whomever? Or hell the aforementioned Tulsi Gabbard former vice chair of the DNC? Just such a silly point of attack

I imagine the younger bloc is smaller so proportionality is important. The younger bloc are also going to have more political purchase in the long run b/c older folks tend to die. You’re treating an entire population as some amorphous hivemind w/ no complexity or variability & i think that’s wrong

What makes you think I haven’t or that your word is so authoritative? I’m not arguing that black voters prefer Dems overwhelmingly post-Southern strategy just that there is no variation among its age demographics. You have to compare the size of the cohorts as well.

Im still not sure what the point is. You cherry-pick one tweet from, presumably, thousands by a leftist who’s largely fallen out of favor with progressives as, what, an indictment on the entire “far left” or on Sanders?

This seems largely anecdotal & when you consider he’s talking about older congregants, it’s not surprising. To suggest it’s representative tho is a little dishonest. SC’s black-led voting bloc hews toward traditional DNC politics but this is a weird & misleading way to frame it.
