THE RISE OF END TIMES FASCISM

My first major piece of the new Trump era, co-written with @astra.bsky.social.

The governing ideology of the far right has become a

Write op-eds, blogs, slogans, manifestos. Get out, march, organize. Join movements. Think harder about the content of your work, but also the form. Aesthetics can be revolutionary at the best, provocative at the least. 2/2

Destabilization of reality in the US is about to reach surreal heights. Protect your mind. Monitor stress levels. Do not doomscroll--it does not help. Be selective about when and how long you expose your brain to this. Do what you can when you can.

More and more customers are coming to the store in search of banned books to buy up and fortify their personal libraries in case censorship has further reach.

I’m surprised and not surprised considering ongoing news and the prospect of Project 2025.

But also, here’s this from the AABB.

The speed with which companies are abandoning DEI is a clue about how shallow their commitment to it ever was.

A “read a fucking book” sticker made a customer so uncomfortable today she had to pick it up with two fingers and tell me. “This is a family store!” She groaned. Yes, ma’am. It’s sure is - I waved my hands around at the throngs of holiday shoppers - my family. Families that choose my store.

Yall. There’s a reason we try to redirect you to shop small. Amazon isn’t doing your community any good.

Excited for Sottile’s new book!
Book pre-orders count as cool gifts!
During times of fear and crisis, New Age leaders offer answers. I got curious about the way New Age-ism was surging during the worst of COVID and... that turned into an entire book. It's called Blazing Eye Sees All. Out next March. Pre-orders live now: www.hachettebookgroup.com/titles/leah-...

My cancer treatment was denied because I first sought care for a bladder infection. The dance of alpeals I had to undertake (while undergoing chemo) to try to keep receiving care was harder than chemo or surgery. While I won’t celebrate a certain death, I understand the rage. Fix the fucking system.

I’ve heard good things. I’m here to witness them as well as haunt my favorite authors, find writing inspiration, advocate for small bookstores and access to healthcare, maybe bitch a little about the general state of the world but mostly I’d like to laugh and experience beauty more. Bring it.
