I have the most nostalgia for 1 and 3, though 3 is only like, half a crash game lol. I loved the gameplay shifts of 3 (1 game a year as a kid ect) and i liked the simple island adventure of 1

but i think i recognize that 2 is the best mechanically, so thats why kilaflow may feel the most like 2

that said, i actually find crash 2 to be my least favorite of the original 3 tbh ^^;
of course i like it more than either of the crash 4's, gba games, twinsanity, ect, i just didn't find it as thematicaly interesting? I'm very visual motivated and 2 felt like a good game, but very same-y

i liked crash 4 as a game, just not as a crash game, yeah. Played it but didn't 100% it, which has never really happend with a crash game for me.

I adored the nsane trilogy tho. only thing i thought was weird was the belly slam tho, even with the hitbox oddities and some model iffyness lol

Its not something you see as much as you feel. A lot of under the hood, additional, and redoing/removing aggregious stuff. Im gonna avoid explaining it 50 times tho theres almost certainly a video or something that explains it. You'd probably like it tho if ya liked og

TLDR: all movement abilities at the start, controls good, new ability and cosmetic unlocks, more missions to fill out the worlds, all worlds completable 100% once you enter them, no more quizes, pretty, lowered difficulty spikes at the end, fun.

A lot more than youd expect or than i can remember.

i feel that may be part of what makes a game good or stand out or something.

Everything is inspired by something, just never feel obligated to BE that inspiration. mix inspirations until you create something fun!

Thats why i like replayee i think, feels free from its original self made limitations

Impossible layer is good from what i understand and id like to go play that too now, but i moreso mean making a proper 3d followup to the first game. IL always kinda seemed more like a spinoff.

I get that it may not be for you but like as someone who blanked this game out of their mind and admittedly wrote it off to never think on it again, i now eagerly await a proper sequel and am probably gonna play the 2d game

Like theyre not even necessary for completion, theyre just REALLY good for constantly rewarding and guiding players in these big worlds. Theyre a great use of what was previously empty space and the stuff it rewards you with is pretty fun/sometimes useful!

Like, naturally i am inspired by other stuff and that forges the basis of what i do, but i can never recreate those things 1:1, and i dont want to frankly.

If i feel like kilaflow needs coins someday down the line (it doesnt) then so be it. Play thought hk needed coins and it surprisingly did tbh

I mean its not like it *removed* the collectables, it just added more from other games. Frankly i dont care where the inspiration came from as long as its fun.

I dont even think about my inspirations when making kilaflow, and i let go of my ties to parts that didnt work in favor of whats fun

Its not like ground breaking but man is it a fun ride. Game is good.

Dont go through all the cutscenes at once just cause you got 120 pagies in the first two worlds tho lol, the pacing can get wonky now that you can do everything on your first visit to a world, but thats fun 🧡

By the way Yooka-Re-playlee may unironically be one of the best 3d platformers of the year and you should absolutely try it out now if you can.

If you were dissapointed by the original you'll almost certainly like this one.

Strictly sticking to one inspiration without compromise can lead to what yl1 was. This feels like they stepped back, put their pride aside, and did what was fun instead

Its a philosophy i follow with kilaflow. Dont force it if it doesnt work. Go with the flow, and this game flows good.
