Trump is a Mafia Don who not only demands we kiss the ring but we also pay for it.
CNN’s David Urban, a former Trump campaign adviser and frequent ally of the president’s on the airwaves, was highly critical of Trump’s shakedown of the Department of Justice for $230 million.
Is being the Jets coach the worst well paid job in America?
Traditionally, the DLCC was responsible for building a D bench to help us avoid the ME train wreck we are seeing (I was unable to find their bluesky account otherwise I would have linked to it!). I know this group from @amandalitman.bsky.social ‘s media appearances. These groups need more support.

Compared to the rest of MAGA he now sounds less insane.
as with adams, if sliwa drops out i think a non trivial portion of his support goes to mamdani
New York Post editorial board calls on Republican mayoral nominee Curtis Sliwa to drop out to boost independent candidate Andrew Cuomo: nypost.com/2025/10/20/o...
Post-Obama the dem party placed a big bet on age and seniority. I think a big reason was the party very much misread the Trump phenomenon, believing as Biden said that Trump was an “aberration”. I think a significant number still feel this way, and that the antidote are reassuring older pols.
As an Indian American and Hindu, a lot of Trump support in my community has the same source - Islamophobia. It’s a very real powerful current running through the country as a whole unfortunately - see the controversy generated by Mamdani compared to white male socialists like Bernie or Plantner.
And it’s not exactly an age thing. I don’t agree with him a lot, but Mark Cuban was good on podcasts as a Harris surrogate. He is definitely older, so it may be an older politician/donor/consultant thing. But it’s definitely real - look at how they are trying to make Cuomo happen in NYC.
They did so in part because he was arguing against the status quo. Democrats have come to embody the status quo. They have an older way of communicating and doing politics (like propping up a ton of mediocre candidates with lots of tv ads). I think we need more dynamic leadership.
We need to make the argument about democracy more dynamic. For example, part of selling voters on universal healthcare is that they must believe the institution of government and the civil service can do this (they do it just north of the border in Canada).
I think if you are 55 you would find arguments for norms and institutions more compelling coming from a 35 year old than a 75 year old. Younger politicians tend to make arguments that are more future and change oriented than older politicians do.
When Schumer defends norms, he comes across as defending a status quo that he has known his whole career. When @petebuttigieg.bsky.social or @aoc.bsky.social defend those things, they are making an argument about a future they would like to see. For us to win we need to be the party of change.
I agree with the points made by @amandalitman.bsky.social today on @thebeat.msnbc.com & would add that arguments in favor of democratic norms & institutions hit differently (& can be more effective) coming from younger politicians.
Yes! That might be preferable to what the leadership has been doing. I hear healthcare, immigration, authoritarianism, rescissions, filibuster etc. it’s all over the place. Luckily the public still blames Trump despite that
She should start by sending that to her staff at the Free Press
Is she contrarian? She isn’t even “both sides” - she just attacks the side attacking Trump

I guess you can argue that Trump is being transparent about the fact that he is a crazy old dingbat
White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt defended President Donald Trump’s post about “med beds” that cure any and all diseases as “refreshing” and part of his commitment to transparency.
