Last minute trip to Lincoln for an organ recital this evening. This church by the railway station has a tower built in the 1000s. Near the base there's a large stone that was originally a Roman tombstone but it got additional engraving by some guy called Ertig and built into the tower.

the main thing that puts me off of playing chess is that there is 2000 years of gameplay that hundreds of people with higher IQs than me have spent thousands of hours studying the history of, so much so that when i put the pawn forward they say "ah i see youre going for the bulgarian somersault" and then i try to take their bishop with my knight and they go aw, rookie mistake, youve played the frenchmans cumsock, and in approximately 37 moves i'll have won"

Idiot ebay purchase turned up. An electric master clock (which sent regular impulses to 'slave' dials around a building to advance them every 30 seconds). I've yet to even begin understanding how it works and it may be too far gone to restore properly. Was presented to a sewage works, of course.

A painting set in a cosy shady woodland clearing on a sunny summer's day. In the centre of the frame, two figures sit on a fallen log mostly hidden by vegetation. The figure on the right has wavy blonde hair down past her shoulders, and wears a flowing white floor-length dress with long sleeves, with delicate lacework around the cuffs and neckline. She looks into the distance with a contemplative, sad expression. On her lap rests a small green book, covered by both of her hands.
The figure on the left sits leaning with her head against shoulder of the other figure. She wears a similar dress but simpler, and in a dark slate grey.
