You ever watch an MLS player walk into a game and think: What are those little bags that they carry?

From Marco Reus' designer tote with a customized cologne, a knockoff from the streets of NY, and even grocery bags, there's much more than meets the eye.

From designer clutches to grocery bags: Inside soccer's toiletry bag obsession
Toiletry bags are soccer players' fashion statements, and the stars of MLS opened theirs up and showed ESPN what's inside.

It's far, far from a crisis and you gotta take a handful of friendly results with a grain of salt, but that's a 0W-3D-1L record for Mexico since winning the Gold Cup, which includes last week's 4-0 loss to Colombia. Challenging tests vs South American opponents continue next month.

I know it was a game against Ecuador, but don't show the 2014 replay of the Luis Montes injury...

Seems about right for that 1st half between Mexico and Ecuador. El Tri, with an experimental XI, have had their chances to take back the lead here

A comeback victory with some big performances tonight from Wright and Roldan, impressive draw vs Ecuador last week with Balogun, Tillman, and Morris shining. Can't deny Poch's step forwards in October.

and would you look at that, a 2nd assist.

Meanwhile for Mexico, Tala Rangel taking over for Malagon in net tonight vs Ecuador. Curious to see how Mateo Chavez does as well after looking impressive in his recent Eredivise appearance.

Even despite being part of that calamitous defensive moment for Australia's goal, Cristian Roldan really started to win me over in that 1st half. Dangerous shot, some important defensive moments, and of course, that well-timed assist. Not bad.

Australi-ya can't ball watch like that USMNT

Handful of interesting changes here for the US after the draw with Ecuador. Also looking like that ankle issue might not be a serious one for Pulisic, back in the XI.

🇸🇷 Suriname had a rich soccer history cut short by tragedy & turmoil.

Now, Dutch-Surinamese players are looking to carry on the legacy of the players that came before them - becoming local heroes in the process.

My piece from Paramaribo for @espn.com: www.espn.com/soccer/story...
Dutch-born players are making Suriname's World Cup dreams a reality
Thanks to a recent change in FIFA rules, Suriname is drawing on its Dutch lineage to fuel a fight for a place in the 2026 World Cup.

Daouda Peeters went from playing for Juventus, to being paralyzed from the waist down due to a rare neurological condition, to getting back on the field with the Las Vegas Lights of the USL-Championship. He spoke to ESPN about his long journey back.

Daouda Peeters: From Juventus, to paralysis, to the USL with Las Vegas
Daouda Peeters was on a fast track to success at Juventus only for a rare neurological disorder to halt his career in its tracks.

This sucks. A lot.

I know from my own experience doing it— it is NOT expensive to pay humans to do this. I got invaluable development working there. As did countless others.

But hey look at that, here’s a feedback form in case you also think it sucks www.mlssoccer.com/feedback/rec...

So ends the Concacaf representation at the U20 World, both Mexico and the U.S. knocked out with two-goal deficits in the quarterfinal stage

And Mexico are now down 4-0 with a home crowd

HT: Mexico 0-1 Colombia

Fairly even, but it's been Colombia with the difference-maker off a set-piece. Work to do for Javier Aguirre.

TIL we're using VAR at the Mexico friendly vs Colombia
cesarhfutbol.bsky.social
Big moment tonight for Santi Gimenez with no Raul Jimenez, El Tri fans still waiting for him to take control of the starting No. 9 spot

HT USA 0-1 Ecuador

Moment of brilliance from Enner Valencia, and some good saves in net from Ecuador's Galindez, have been the difference here so far. Fairly even match-up, even tempted to say that the U.S. are looking decent despite the scoreline.

also don't worry, he wasn't the only person in a Star Wars costume at the presentation

Seeing Omar Gonzalez makes me think of the greatest player reveal in the history of soccer when he was officially unveiled by Pachuca while wearing a Darth Vader outfit
