Yeah, unfortunately I am literally assuming everything is fake if it's the least bit incredible because I do not want to believe (or even admire) something made by the clankers
one insidious thing about gen AI is it's not just causing us to mistrust dodgy images, it's also making us mistrust images that look perfectly normal. this is gaslighting in a very literal sense bc the technology is undermining the trust we have in our own ability to perceive reality!

the only good counterargument to “they should be tried for war crimes” is “we are not at war so they should straight up be tried for murder”

Laura Ingalls Wilder: *racist bullshit*

the TV show: “and so Laura was vindicated in her friendship with Spotted Eagle, and everyone else learned to be normal to him too 😌😌😌 remember children: racially integrated schools and Native American traditional names are what makes this country great”

If you use Gmail, here's a nifty free app from the Google Workspace Marketplace--it scans emails for AI-generated content. I installed and tested it myself; it's not 100%, but works pretty well. If you're being bombarded by AI scam spams, it's a helpful tool. workspace.google.com/marketplace/...

Black Friday reminder - that product with a great price being sold by a company with a name that's just a bunch of random letters may end up on our website someday because it explodes.

We were talking last night that it's GOOD that stores aren't opening on Thanksgiving, but also that the sales just aren't very good this year. Some of the things on my list aren't on sale at all!

Annual reminder that I've got a holiday romcom out

"A super-steamy queer holiday romance that deals with serious topics, such as substance addiction, identity exploration, and family strife, while still managing to be uproariously funny and incredibly romantic." —Library Journal (⭐ review)

I was complaining about how everything I want for Christmas is like a hundred bucks. Husband asks, "Like what?"
My list: "A purse that looks like Bobby Hill's face when he yells 'that's my purse.' Overalls made from sweats. A fancy kaftan I'd never wear."

Why do I keep getting ads and emails about 25, 30 percent off?? If I'm not ready trample someone for it, it's not a black Friday sale

I went to donate blood today and they asked me to do platelets, which I've never done before. Anyway, today I learned that anticoagulants can steal all your calcium and make your face go numb

I never, ever get involved with Threads drama (it's is for lols ONLY) but so many people are missing the point on a post I just read. Daughter asked for soon to be stepmom to take her to get first bra. Mom is saying "you stole that experience from me!" Commenters agree.

But really, you don't even need to know the origins. Santa is not secular because Christmas is not secular, even if lots of people observe it secularly
Saint Nick was based on Nicholas, bishop of Bari, an early Christian saint who gave gifts to people in secret, usually as a way to have done a good deed. The name Santa clause is a bastardization of Sinterklaas, a Germanic form of Saint Nick. It’s very Christian.
