🔊 I've been quiet about this, but can't hold it in any longer ...

🍾 Beyond happy to say that my first book "Diaspora Governance in Practice" - which will be published with @brisunipress.bsky.social next year - now officially has a cover!!!
🤩 Stay tuned to learn more about the contents of the book, and to hear me gushing about all the wonderful people who've helped to make this happen!!!
📖 Diaspora Governance in Practice will offer a new perspective on how power operates in an entangled international system, through a practice-centered study of diaspora governance as it is encountered (remade and resisted) by a globally mobilizing Tamil diaspora.

Made it to page 13 of the Immigration White Paper but was ultimately defeated by this paragraph/sentence/string of words?!
Phew I thoucht it was me and my no-math brain.
As soon as I looked at the graphs in the immigration white paper, I knew they were insane.
This chart from Immigration White Paper illustrates quality of government's underlying "analysis."

1. Numbers are completely wrong (in fact non-EU employment in health/care rose by over 100K).

2. Doesn't say what time period this is.

3. Footnote to source says data is from OECD (it's from HMRC)

Day 3 of striking today and we're voting on an offer from management tomorrow! Amazing work getting them to the table @sheffielducu.bsky.social & all our striking and picketing comrades!
Standing strong at The Wave and Elmfield today. We're on strike for the most fundamental reason - to protect colleagues jobs from management vandalism #UCUstrikes @sheffielducu.bsky.social
