Sigh. I felt like a fair amount of people found me through Academia.edu, especially from LatAm, but I cancelled and eliminated my account.
Academia.edu has always been a scam to gamify & monetize the psychic damage of twilight-phase academic neoliberalism: this person looked you up, that person mentioned you, your work matters. Intellectual as individual brand-builder. The rights stuff is awful but the basic concept is bad enough

The @aaup.org report on AI is so hugely important. Among other key takeaways is the fact that most AI programs have been introduced by administrative fiat and by circumventing meaningful faculty, student, & staff consultation.

That's a wrap! First year seminar "Are we what we eat? Cuisine, Culture and Production" at CollegeUC. We looked at food identity, heritage, and colonization, then examined inequalities in the global food system, proposing interdisciplinary solutions to local case studies.

What would it take to transform the global food system?

For @philbakernz.bsky.social, redistribution of resources to enable more households to access healthy food is the key.

In my first year seminar, I think it's feasible to require the document to be generated entirely in Google Docs. We have a clear emphasis on skills-building and showing your work, so they might not be fans of it, but I don't think anyone would push back and say they were just going to paste it in.

Sometimes I wonder if the financial and timeline mess in my two investigations in Chile is my fault, but then I remember that my third investigation via Denmark has never had any issues, and I realize the problem is not me.
