The Cure: The Show of a Lost World (2025) **** a straight up concert film, but just one great song after another. Even at 2hrs 47mins, flew by and there was a great flub by Robert Smith towards the end that elevated everything ending the concert on a whimsical note. Great show, cold night! Hot guy!

THFRO (1990) *** - this still works. The premise is still engaging and the film leans into its action very well and the last third is non-stop, but then you get to that final scene and that rear projection is just bad. What had been impressive sets and model work turns into cardboard and duct tape.

I’m still curious how people fall for scam emails when they are literally this bad.

SORCERER (1977) **** - from William Friedkin, this remake of WAGES OF FEAR is a slow burn, visual mind trip on running from your sins only to be confronted by the realization that there is nowhere, no distance, no hope of ever getting away, even if you do the impossible. Beautiful and horrifying.

THE YOUNG GIRLS OF ROCHEFORT (1967) - **** - in short, great, watch it! Mike’s first time seeing it, impressed, very French, check it out.

TRON: ARES (2025) - ** better than I expected, but lacking in depth, too afraid to ask real questions and too timid to trust the audience. It’s just there, it’s just repeating, it borrows a bit too much from Blade Runner while lacking that emotional weight. Ideas, moments, a great OST. End of line.

GORP (1980) - * - a complete random pick off PRIME, this ANIMAL HOUSE / MEATBALLS rip off is terrible, almost no redeeming qualities. It has one actual well choreographed sight gag that did make me laugh and it has one cub cutie that takes forever to get down to his underwear, beyond that - avoid!

DW: THE INVASION (1968) - Ian Marter takes a good story and takes it up a notch. More violent with actual consequences, this one has a high body count. The real beat of the story is the double act between the villains Vaughn & Packer, the bicker and snipe at each other to great effect. A good read.

DW: TTOTC - originally broadcast 1967, lost, then found in Hong Kong in 1991, this returned story lived up to the memories of those who saw it in its day. Until 1991, the TARGET novel was a good as you could get and the getting was good. A solid, tight story, true to episodes, a great read.

Who doesn’t love an awful, tone deaf take on what makes a successful movie? From THE HOLLYWOOD REPORTER (11/23/25) today on WICKED: FOR GOOD, boys ruin everything, girls rule - give girls “product”, make money, stop making boy movies! BAD! End the “glut”! Boooooo, boys! Totally undercuts WICKED…

ESCAPE FROM NEW YORK (1981) *** - still a classic to this day. You know the story, but I’m surprised I really don’t know much of the background of that world. Nuclear fusion? What war? - a resource war?, kinda like Fallout? A lot more questions now than before…let’s take a journey together…
