Taking care of 2 dogs while photographing birds. Currently using a Sony a7c R and then either a tampon 28-75 for streets and dog photography; or a tampon 150-500mm or Sony 400-800 for most birds.
A short journey of the owl 🪶📸🦉 hunting for the Vole including it just hanging out with its kill in the brush hiding out. Personally the third is my favorite demonstration of an owls movements as their heads are locked

Looks like they were able to get their breakfast successfully. The Shorty flying low over the grasslands promptly hid it in a hole I assume for a snack later.

Final individual photo 📸 of the owls 🪶 from that morning. I have a few other fun ones but they are kind of funky and odd to share later.

This is top one or two photos in total so I went to do some light editing to balance the raw image out. The shorty owl 🪶 just flying across in front of us maybe 75 ft was truly a blast to watch and shoot 📸. I was told afternoon was better cause backlight is “worse” but I have to disagree a bit

My goal for the early morning outing was to catch a known raptor hot spot, still going through the photos but I’m very happy with the two owls back lit sparring and the kestrel flying across the plains 📸🪶

Woke up at 4 so I could get to this remote spot known for a few specific birds. I have a thousand photos to go through but even the start of the day had great views. 📸🪶

Question for the #dnd community out there. How do you know when to end a campaign that is going well and could keep going but maybe your mental health can’t handle running as a #dm anymore?

A pretty far shot for this northern harrier finishing up its catch on the far side of the estuary. 🪶 another lifer from Fir Island

Some trumpeter swans flying in the early light 🪶 another lifer at this park.

Three eagles keeping watch at sunrise for a meal to start the day. 🪶

Woke up at 5 to drive to a nature preserve to try and catch sunrise. Given it’s PNW that’s… always a maybe. Did manage to identify 6 new birds and hoping to post soon with some photos once I get through them.

This blue bird was puffing itself up in the chilly breeze in Eugene. 🪶

A little Cormorant enjoying the sun on Christmas Day. 🪶 they look so funny straight on.

So far while trying the 300mm I have loved the autofocus and sharpness (even if using a 1.4) but this is the one time I wish I had my bigger lens for the face.

Happy winter solstice

ented the 300mm to see if it would be worth trying to get for lighter weight and better low light/aurofocus. I was impressed with day one. Here is a duck sample 🪶

I am the worst host for Thanksgiving… I didn’t brine my ducks like normal this year. Lord save me and forgive my transgressions, pray these ducks turn out well.

Honestly as I go into year 3 of wildlife photography I’ve gotten more into the “odd” parts of the animal movements, the wings motion blur as the shake them out, scratching their heads, etc. 🪶

I’m glad to see this article get shared some here (non-pw here: archive.is/PHbqH)

I’m very proud of my In-laws for being brave enough to tell their story while many victims understandably are scared to. This kind of #asianhate can be hard to see sometimes. Building awareness to protect is key. 1/2

Heat distortion messed up the quality but damn that’s a fun photo… the eagle circled for a while and I didn’t know what was in the tall grass (Pokémon) but it came down and scared all the ducks. It ended up there picking at something for about 20 minutes 🪶

I tend not to do street or general life photography mostly out of an anxiety of intruding. However when you wake up randomly at 5, no one is around. 📸
