as always extending my petition for late-'60s/early-'70s interior design to properly come back into fashion, I want my bulbous lamps and beige couches and conversation pits please

correction: Romita Jr. is on the annual following this issue, then it goes back to Byrne for a few more issues, and then my memory gets fuzzy, I'm sure I'll find out as I read on
this is a huge, massive, gargantuan turning point in Claremont's run, truly like one book closing and another beginning, plus John Romita Jr. replacing Byrne as the main artist. Most of this big shake-up ends up getting reset one way or another of course, but that's comics too baby
read Claremont & Byrne's Uncanny X-Men #138 early today, which caps off the Dark Phoenix saga with Cyclops eulogizing Jean Grey before leaving the team, juxtaposed on the final page by a young and hopeful Kitty Pryde arriving at the school, and found myself getting quite emotional. Comics are good!

the thing about ideas is that if you open your brain to the universe and take long walks and keep noting them down, you just keep getting ideas. They're nothing special. Idea guys for whom that's their only thing are appendages at best. Ideas don't matter at all until they're made tangible.
AI shill motherfuckers trying to sell it as a creative tool seem to not be aware of the true open secret of creative fields, which is that raw ideas in and of themselves are completely worthless; everyone and their dog has a million wonderful ideas, what matters is when and how you execute on them

Spooky season painting No.2: Possession (1981)
this film and its sets are utterly gorgeous
part of my self-imposed horror curriculum this month is watching segments of KWAIDAN (1964) spaced out over several nights. Tonight's feast is the second segment, 'The Woman of the Snow'
on the face of it this wasn't set up as a horror game for October but 'tis the season
I have a single page of notes, a bunch of random books and monster zines to reference just in case, and a whole brain full of weird nasty techno-organic imagery
Gearing up to run the first proper session of a fucked-up Troika! game for the in-person Cork crowd tomorrow, most of my prep as always is simply cultivating Vibes
The Ninth Configuration rocks, final act destroys me, highly recommend
