A Winter Solstice Sandwich
In my mind, I had romantic visual plans for today. I would walk to the park as the first light of Winter Solstice filtered through the trees. The wreath of pussytoes I had created this spring summe…

Looking to beat back the winter blues in the new year? I have room in my online drawing course: Manitoba Wildflowers in Colour. We will use watercolour and coloured pencils to bring a lovely bouquet of wildflowers to live on the page. You can register here: www.mcnallyrobinson.com/classes

My personal #abstractadvent2025 efforts have devolved into a few second exemplars for the kiddos

This Canadian who happens to currently live in Alberta, also supports this post.
The UCP has made 2025 one of the darkest years for Alberta’s democracy.

Albertans can turn on the lights in 2026.

By simply being Albertan.

Let me explain. 🧵 open.substack.com/pub/drjaredw...

Gift article from @theglobeandmail.com Some lovely, thoughtful, creative ideas. Reminds me of the Argenta, BC Community Hall/Post Office. www.theglobeandmail.com/gift/660f8be...

With clay taking priority this month, haven’t had time to do weekly #abstractadvent2025 with kiddos, so they are playing with all the shapes this year (as will I after the 20th). Some commendable 7 year-old starts to artists trading card drawings earlier this past week:

Shout out to all the art teachers out there putting aside personal creativity to pump out production of kid creativity before the break. We can do this! #arted #deluluisthesolulu

As the year draws to a close, feeling nostalgic for the habits I left behind for most of this year. Wishing the world was different, and realizing it’s most likely just going to keep moving in the direction it has always been going.

Abstract Advent shout out to @malucolorin.bsky.social (also loved your zines on flax!) ✨
Day 4 of @artpedagogy.bsky.social’s #AbstractAdvent2025 is a pair of young friends in ushankas having a lively chat on a snowy day ❄️

It was fun to do the designs on their woolly jumpers! And lovely to draw while sipping on my capuccino at my favourite local coffee shop ☕️✏️

Thank you for sharing @kindermalkurs.bsky.social - fun way to introduce neutrals through primary colour mixing.
#snowtime!

Here, the 5–6-year-olds learned to paint a brown #bear using the three primary colors and to spatter snow with a toothbrush ;-) Well done!

It’s shaping up to be a future “kit of parts” kind of thing. Maybe paper toys to play with during the holidays. #abstractadvent2025 #abstractadvent

#abstractadvent2025 just not feeling it this year… maybe something will come of this in awhile… jazzed about the lemon juice colour anyway.

Tomorrow is the beginning of #abstractadvent2025 hosted by www.artpedagogy.com/abstractadve... If you are on Instagram, it’s big over there. After about 15 minutes on that site, I feel like I’m reassessing any public participation, but still look forward to the chance to create every day for 25 days

A slow yet satisfying spin: approx. 35 grams spun supported from Fox Mountain Spindles. Chain plied this morning on my Lojan ‘Buddy. The spin that helped me clarify a plan to help me get unstuck. Spinning is the easy part.

Something positive to focus on. Thank you @lukaszukab.bsky.social for your dedicated work to accomplish this for Albertans who value being part of Canada. 🇨🇦
456,365 #ForeverCanadian signatures (plus few dozen last minute arrivals). I’m told it’s the biggest petition in Canada’s history.

None of this would happen if not for thousands of volunteers and your love for Canada.🇨🇦

Thank you! This is Alberta’s and Canada’s victory.

Thank you @senatorpaulasimons.bsky.social I’ve also just started following @brodiefenlon.bsky.social and look forward to his announcement re: CBC (as an organization) joining Bluesky. 🤗💙🇨🇦
Obviously people on Bluesky have strong opinions about being on Bluesky! Come for the clip, stay for the comments.
The CBC maintains an account on X - but not on Bluesky (nor on Mastodon.) Why? I asked CE0 Marie-Philippe Bouchard and Editor-in-Chief @brodiefenlon.bsky.social when they appeared at the Senate Transport and Communications Committee this morning. #CBC #SRC #SenateofCanada #cdnpoli #X #Bluesky #TRCM

New and old and new.
I’ve been immersed in Aran Goyoaga’s new baking book. Last week alone: over 5 hours in the kitchen building sourdough starter & testing out recipes. It’s her best book yet.
I’ve also started knitting again with this beautiful Akara Rose BFL yarn. I’ve had this skein for awhile!
