As of the end of October, the best 4 teams in the east are the Pittsburgh Penguins, Detroit Red Wings, New Jersey Devils, and Montreal Canadiens.

Meanwhile, the Panthers, Leafs, Lightning, and Rangers are all on the outside right now.

Extremely fun October.

So I watched the 3rd period and OT of the Wings game this morning spoiler free. I turned it off immediately when LA scored the game winner in OT.

Then I saw two full hours later that awood posted highlights.

This is how I learned that I turned it off too soon.

Really nice write up. Definitely remember the Wings doing this win draw and change thing with Datsyuk on the PK late in his career for similar reasons.

The playoff cutoff was 91 points last year. With the current points banked, the Red Wings need to play at an 87-88 point pace the rest of the way to hit that mark. Seems pretty doable

You learn and get nothing from the ESPN intermission segment. It's just Messier talking about the 1980s and getting pucks deep and Oshie being completely uncomfortable in that role.

I tried to watch espn's Frozen Frenzy last year, and the problem was there wasn't actually much hockey being shown. Huge chunks of the program were literally useless segments of just, like, Kevin Weekes chatting with a former coach about nothing on a couch.

Given the cap space the Wings will have I’d rather burn a year of MBN’s ELC and make the second contract cheaper. But at 9 games it is decision time in the next 24 hours.

I would play him for game 10 tomorrow and then swap him for Mazur/Danielson for the road trip, personally.
