The “Surprise Me” feature is fantastic. Last night I sat on an old site where a couple had blogged their lives since 1996, their travels, hobbies etc. It stopped last year. Not sure if they’ve since passed, but it was gorgeous. Then another site with symphony orchestra on wax cylinder recordings.

There have been more and bigger - by far - protests for Gaza in the UK than anti-immigration ones. And yet, if you relied on media coverage you’d reasonably conclude that the anti-immigration ones represent the ‘real’ majority in this country.

Racist riots and pogroms don’t happen in a vacuum.

Ireland's greenhouse gas emissions at the end of 2024 were 11% below 2005 levels. This is well short of its binding EU commitment of a 42% reduction by 2030.

Greenhouse emissions down, but further cuts needed - EPA

Ireland emitted 54 million tonnes of climate polluting greenhouse gases last year, according to the Environmental Protection Agency - 2% lower than in 2023.

@brewcoxy.bsky.social and I stood as a man standing like a meter away from us said it was good that "the Filipinos" are fleeing Ballymena because the empty houses might go to locals.
It is an attempt at a racist pogrom and it is being directed annually now by the same actors using the same formula.

The only thing certain in the wake of the pogrom in Ballymena is that every politician offering lip service to "genuine concerns" will continue to leave that town an underfunded shithole with no housing and crumbling services as they have always done.
But now they'll blame Romanians for it.
