At the top center, an intricate architectural frame encloses a scene depicting ten elegantly dressed figures—seven women and three men—seated in a lush garden under an arched trellis, representing the storytellers of The Decameron. Each figure is identified by name, including Pampinea, Fiammetta, and Filostrato, among others. The scene reflects the book’s central motif of storytelling as a refuge from hardship.
The borders are adorned with classical motifs—cherubs, vines, masks, and nude figures symbolizing vitality and art. Below the text block, a frieze portrays playful mythological creatures and dancing figures, while a typographical printer’s mark appears at the bottom center, signifying the craftsmanship of the de Gregorii brothers.
