FYI as you head into the holiday season:

Shopify is a Canadian company, but its CEO Tobi Lütke is Maple MAGA in both words & monetary support (under the guise of “free speech” & “open commerce”).
Really beginning to hate Shopify, they are doing a lot to make shopping shittier lately

Me trying to tell artists it's okay if you keep repeating certain characters, themes, visuals, anything since you clearly need to say it some more 🖤
you should tell your story until you no longer need to tell it

Has anyone seen CAUGHT STEALING? I read the Charlie Huston book it's based on maybe twenty years ago and noticed the recent adaptation is now on Netflix. Thinking of making it my movie pick later tonight.

Got a new treadmill a couple weeks ago & have taken to listening to @talkscaredpod.bsky.social's Dark Tower deep dives while using it. Finished the Wastelands episode yesterday. Have they not covered Wizard and Glass yet? Anyone know?

Driving in the snow on a lonely rural road while listening to Led Zeppelin's "The Rover" at high volume is a pretty cool experience that just happened.

An experiment I recommend is putting your phone on silent on the other side of a room, or in a different room, from wherever you're watching a movie.

Each time you feel that twitch to check your phone? That's not the movie's fault. It's because they got you hooked and stole your attention span.
Oh my god. She's 1000% right. This makes so much sense.

REMINDER: if you think your right-on lefty/socialist/communist/etc. politics justifies pirating books, well guess what? Most writers don't make a living wage from their books or writing work, and stealing from them makes you a class traitor.

A post by the New Beverly Cinema account reminds me that the last movie I ever saw in a drive-in was 10 to Midnight, starring Charles Bronson. The fall of 1984 in Memphis. Which apparently was a year and a half after it was released, so I guess it was on a second run or something.

Favorite line from last night's new episode of Pluribus: "I'm gonna Sid Vicious this shit like it's the Chelsea fuckin' Hotel."

Also watched two more great episodes of The Lowdown. Poor Lee Raybon (Ethan Hawke) keeps getting his shit mercilessly caved in in his relentless search for the truth.

In the recent Joe Hill interview on the Losers Club podcast, there's a part where he talks about a novel he wrote when he was 13/14. It was called MIDNIGHT EATS. He was describing the plot and laughing it off as obviously ridiculous, but I was thinking, 'Shit, I'd read the hell out of that.'
