Our 8th anniversary was last week. Came across this photo of us at our friends’ wedding in 2017 a few months before we got married. Amazing how much has changed since that time. You have helped me become a better human and I’m grateful to have shared this last decade with you.

My wife, heading out the door with the kids to meet up with a friend for the day:

“Now B, make sure you work on {that home project} and not just play guitar all day.”

One thing I did not anticipate when I became a homeowner was just how much tree management/removal I would have to do. Our hemlock died due to drought, two pine trees were planted too close to the driveway, and two ironwoods that grew to massive proportions next to the house. PNW, 4900 SF lot.

It took exactly one calendar year for the Republican Party to shatter the American automobile industry and indefinitely take it out of global contention.
Just after market close, Ford dropped a ton of info about restructuring its #EV activities. Lots to cover, so multiple posts w/JV Hot Take at end.

(a) As expected, the Ford F-150 Lightning large #EV pickup truck won't go back into production. Last ones built at Rouge EV Ctr in October. R.I.P. (1/8)

I like how as a society we've all just mutually agreed to ignore the fact that Leonard Cohen's Hallelujah is awful because Jeff Buckley's version is incredible.

Every time I go to the grocery store, I'm more appalled. I have no idea how typical Americans are affording life.

No question there are better pies, but Costco's 18-in pepperoni pizza for $9.95 is the undefeated MVP for a young family's Friday night in this economy.

Meanwhile, in places that require zero lot line development and have allowed mixed use, high density for literally decades and have zero parking reqs today:

I've had my eye on one of these custom enclosures for my Marantz 2250B for like 10 years. Maybe throw in a black faceplate and LED bulb kit. Santa?

After several years and multiple kids, I can safely say swim lessons for little kids are more of a teenage employment scheme than any sort of functional aquatic learning environment.

The lows in Portland are higher than the daytime highs in Michigan, which helps me keep things in perspective when the short days start wearing me out. There are many things I miss about home, but winter is not one of them.

Fascinating to learn that home prices only went up a modest 800 percent. Guess I'll switch to store brand coffee and that should even things out across time and space.
