hinako's house was actually a really good dungeon by this game's standards lol. love how we've basically got all the pieces to figure out what the fuck is really happening already. or at least what all the character drama is. not quite as sure about the uhh. you know, Silent Hill stuff.

there is only one real dumb thing about shf's presentation i can complain about. the menus immediately mute all game sound/ambience. it's so fucking jarring to open your map and everything just Stops.

also the menus are too bright with hdr on lol

in all honesty im just bitter because i just played sh1-3 for the first time a month ago and those games are genre-defining classics while this is a distant iteration on that genre 20 years later. i can't reasonably expect them to be on the same level. but it just feels sad stepping down y'know

people saying "old silent hill camera is dumb and bad i cant see shit" so they make silent hill f with a fully controllable third person action game camera. except if you get cornered against a wall the entire screen is 95% hinako's back. the most modern gaming

it's not like uniquely bad or anything it's ok. it's fine. i just kind of think the way old silent hill balanced things worked, and this game really fucked with that in a way that doesn't work. enemies pretty notably did not instantly fuckin destroy you too often in those old games

as much as i am upset that it's the coward's move, as reluctant as i was, i did change the combat difficulty to story instead of hard. i think the game is kind of not great in a lot of ways lol

i also didn't really think they were very hard for the most part (intense, yes; difficult, not especially; no i have not suppressed apoc bird or whitenight but i would like to) but there's definitely individual variance going on there

im being misinterpreted by randoms. the boss fights are extremely fun they're just also anxiety-inducing. that's part of the fun though.
