this kind of downsteam-of-masamune-shirow/mgs1/etc thing is pretty in vogue right now and for whatever reason it makes me very critical of what bits are getting used effectively / purely signalling the inspiration

have noticed recently that nearly every youtube video has comments under it that are phrased as if the entire platform is some kind of slot machine that spits out entertainment
