As an author who writes both, I am living for this one good thing happening these days.
horror is definitely on the heels of romance. more and more horror specialty shops are popping up and sections of bookstores (Barnes and Noble especially) are dedicated to and expanding in horror.
seriously, it appears that while basically nobody is reading fiction anymore when it comes to 90% of genres of literature, a lot of very horny people must be spending a lot of money on romance novels

This is one of the things that's often missing from online discussions of anti-capitalist theory. The question that actually determines our socioeconomic status and fate is this:

Do you live off what you're paid for your own labor, or off the profits you draw from the labor of others?
I can’t believe you idiots are still arguing with me about this. Idc what your job is paying you now, you still have to labor for your money. You’re working class.

All it takes is an unfortunate accident or illness for you to be in the poor house. Medical debt and fallout would cripple you. Stfu.
All of you are poor. These hypothetical poor people everyone is discussing are us. We’re poor. Idc if you make 6 figures or not. You’re poor too.

FINALLY got around to seeing the new Frankenstein. I loved it even though I was continually going, "Victor, you deadbeat dad." "Victor, you dick." "Victor, you absolute fuckwaffle."

this reminds me of the Bridgerton response and how people were so confused that the main characters *changed* after season one, like writing essays about why that was a bad choice

which seems like a logical thing to them, but an *insane* thing to say to anyone who understands genre romance.
but this? shut the fuck up. guess what, my man, gorgeous young 22 year olds like to fuck. And queer people deserve love stories that are sexy and horny. a "chaste kiss" please be for real.

As a bit of a finger to the stories that make fated mates about breeding--especially about breeding a "chosen one," my current book is going to clarify that in my universe, they exist to make each other better people. #AmWriting #Romancelandia

You're not "better" if you prefer the more obscure shit. You're not "better" if you prefer the popular mainstream shit. No one is "better" than anyone else because this isn't a goddamn competition. People just dig what they dig. Let's let them.
You love movies, you're cool. Isn't that what matters?

I'm still not over this descent.
Google at its peak was basically the best information retrieval system in human history and they and every competitor decided going from there to “you didn’t want answers you wanted half-assed auto-complete 80%-wrong hallucinations” in a few years was the right idea

On the last 6 chapters of this book & my poor heroine is not having a good time.

“Why did you wait so long to tell me?” she’d demanded.
“I hadn’t wanted to ruin your day.”
“I watched thirty people get their heads cut chopped off and countless others lose their tongues. My day was already ruined.”

"Why'd ye spill yer beans, Charlie Brown?"
"One thing about living with Charlie Brown I never could stomach—all the damn vampires."
“And I'm the tyranny of evil men. But I'm tryin', Charlie Brown. I'm tryin' real hard to be the shepherd.”

Hilarious irony of the disabling the Gmail AI, making promotions and updates tabs go away, merging into one crowded inbox:
People like me are more motivated to clean out their inboxes, which means we can put off paying for more storage even longer.

Also, you gotta periodically check your Gmail settings because, like Microsoft and its AI shit, it will turn itself back on.
heads up, gmail has a new setting automatically on that allows their a*i to be trained on your emails so make sure to turn off the 'Smart Feature' checkbox in your settings

Civilizations are always at their best when they're supporting the arts.
The current decline of support is a glaring sign of our collapse.
