Before her fall, we had a great bike ride to church with our 8yo and a friend from our neighborhood. She did nearly 7 miles before Sunday school!

People who oppose protected bike lanes oppose independence for children.

OK I will admit that cars are very useful when your kid falls off her bike & doesn’t want to ride home anymore & your friend who lives nearby can come get you.

Just thinking about that story about inhalers causing the same emissions as 500k cars as I biked my child through a sea of cars to the pediatrician.

We got her lungs rechecked and were instructed to use a second inhaler for a few days.

If only there were a way to offset those inhaler emissions.

I always buy something fancy at Vennture, so I never get out for less than $7.

A super cool* thing about the shutdown is that the paychecks federal employees get this week are only for 70 percent of their normal wages but 100 percent of their normal deductions were taken out.

There are secure bike pods that @shabazzstuart.bsky.social has developed. I’d also love to see the city incentive landlords to turn under-utilized space into bike parking. (I used to live in a big building with a lobby that rarely got used…instead of piano, we could’ve used bike parking.)

Milwaukee has, overall, a great street grid. It also has a high poverty levels, which puts car ownership out of reach for so many people.

Imagine what we could be with a few hundred miles of protected bike lanes and an ebike rebate program.

since denver launched its e-bike rebate program - the have sold 10,000 e-bikes and reduced an estimated 1,000,000 car trips - replacing millions of VMTs and reducing air pollution

there are no climate silver bullets... but damn - e-bikes and e-cargo bikes are close
