It's getting to the point where I'm no fun any more. I am sorry.

Dad / professional geek / theater kid / New York sports fan.

We need to change the conversation about taxes in this country.

It shouldn't only be about how much you're paying and who's paying more or less than you.

It should be about what you're actually getting for your money.

Would I be OK with paying a bit more in taxes and not having to keep a job I hate because that's how my family gets health care?

Yes. I think I would.
R U ok with paying 8 to 12 pct more in taxes and possibly losing your standard deduction ?

R U ok with losing access to different curative medications and care because the government can't afford to pay for them, even after taxing all the billionaires 90 pct?

WON'T ANYONE THINK OF THE POOR PERSECUTED BILLIONAIRES?

Sometimes I feel like @schumer.senate.gov is strategically allowing Team Trump to make things worse for all of us because he honestly believes this will lead to some sort of groundswell of support for the Dems.

As if nobody will also hold HIM accountable for his role in all of this.

The entire plot of The Lord of the Rings sort of hinges on one character being sort of a dumbass...

And I can't help but wonder how many times in human history that actual wars have been won or lost for similar reasons.

I'm not one who sees much point in making charitable donations to a college or university under the best of circumstances...

But it feels especially aggressive to be soliciting donations from people who are actively paying massive sums in tuition.

That's one way to make teams pay for playing hack-a-Mitch.

(Robinson rebounded his own brick, passed out to Brunson for a three.)

Who are you most sick of seeing in commercials?

- Kevin Hart
- Chris Hemsworth
- Blake Griffin

Oof. Just disgraceful effort on that rebound by Toronto.
December 10, 2025 at 2:51 AM
Raptors looking as bad as that court in the second quarter.
December 10, 2025 at 2:49 AM
This court in Toronto is a crime against people who can see.

House on my block has a Keep Christ in Christmas sign right next to an inflatable light-up display of Santa emerging from an outhouse.
December 8, 2025 at 3:45 AM
Mitch Robinson is amazing.

He just got caught out of position going for a steal, recovered to challenge the shot, got the rebound and passed out to start a break.

Utah is not… good.
December 6, 2025 at 2:17 AM
Anybody know who’s behind this “New York Car Insurance should be cheaper” ad campaign?

Hard not to assume there’s some billionaire that stands to make money from this.
December 6, 2025 at 1:54 AM
I realize an 11-point deficit in the second quarter is basically nothing but how bad is Utah?

Driving home in traffic. Car ahead of me stops in the middle of an intersection.

I stop at the line.

The light goes red.

Traffic clears, and the car ahead is able to move up, but I'm still stopped at the light.

My dash lights up with "THE CAR AHEAD HAS MOVED" message.

Who is this helping?

I didn’t know Isola is now the Alan Hahn of Nets broadcasts and… good.

I hope he enjoys really dismally dreadful basketball.

Last minute or so of the Knicks game should be set to Benny Hill music
December 4, 2025 at 2:56 AM
The year-end recaps start to hit and I realize a significant portion of the music I listen to would most charitably be described as "dad rock."

I won't apologize for this. Pink Floyd is awesome and Rumours is a classic.

But I could maybe stand to branch out a little.

What you got for me?

There will always be awful people looking to take advantage of accommodations or benefits or other programs intended to help people who actually do need help.

I'd prefer that everyone who needs help gets it - even if that means some of those awful people slip through.
Balancing "no person with a disability should be denied accommodations" with "it's important to discourage non-disabled people from pretending to be disabled to take advantage of these accommodations" is really difficult and I don't have a great answer for what anyone should do about it.
December 3, 2025 at 11:52 AM
Hart is doing his very best Steph Curry impression tonight.

Probably a good sign for the Knicks.
December 3, 2025 at 1:28 AM
That was just a ridiculous pass by Brunson.
December 3, 2025 at 1:27 AM
Deuce chants at TD Garden?

You've gone soft, Boston.

The Costco nearest me may as well be the fifth circle of hell but I’m tempted to buy a membership again.
