gave ddp dfk a try since it was on sale and shmuparch runs horribly for me. it was pretty fun blindly no-missing up until That Part in stage 5 which ended the credit pretty much instantly lol

3rd person games should consider using the 64 Zelda games' Z-focus / Z-target camera instead of an analogue stick controlled camera. It's kinda nice not having to choose between camera control and face buttons, or being forced to claw grip

decided to play one of the newer touhous, and ended up doing UM's extra stage. the snowball effect of power loss is really frustrating, I had 5 stocks left over but I might as well have had 1 with how brutal losing power is in this game

I'll keep saying this over & over - nobody got into shmups to play novice modes. They got into them because they saw Hibachi, Larsa, an Ikaruga double play or something like that. Devs gotta be confident & have a punk attitude & spend less time thinking about novices

Some modern STGs are conscious of possibly being anyone's first arcade scrolling shooter, and bend themselves into knots trying to be an entire genre tutorial before being their own identifiable game.

I'm tempted to make an account on here to dump screenshots/clips from I Wanna Be The Guy fangames that I think are awesome. This community has made a ton of really cool or funny shit and there's a lot of people on here who I think would love seeing it all.

Thinking about Evil Egg's codex, it's honestly a genius way to help the player internalize the idea of "progression" in an arcade style game existing, just only in their own knowledge and experience, rather than part of some save file
